Other Realms''/The Spirit etc

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Spirits? like the stuff you drink.
I go to "other realms" when consuming an excessive amount of spirits

Is there anything in particular you want to discuss Heltak? I quite often enjoy the philosophical arguments although i'm not a big fan of the supernatural stuff like RSPK and all that stuff, it sounds like a load of cobblers to me.

Ed, i'm well aware of that. Are you suggesting then the "soul" cos thats what we're talking about is nothing more than electro-magnetic radiation? That we are the sum of our biology, weak self-powered batteries, and nothing more?

@krazy;

tell me that was your sig.

as for on topic, i was expecting several thousand-word essays debating the existence of teh supernaturl, maybe not.

as for me, i think that the 'spirits' you talk of may work somewhat like a hologram, but seen only under certain circumstances. like freak pictures with someone/thing that wasn't there when the picture was taken.

eg(true story, i swear!)
at school, we had a project to build this 'cat cafe' thingo for the cats that prowled around school. after finishing (it was only a small project) we took a picture of it, and a cat, and the makers behind. when it was developed, behold, the right-most person was accompanied by a horse just next to his right shoulder!

in depth research into the history of the school compounds revealed that indeed a horse lived on the compounds years ago. i'm not clear of the details as i didn't conduct the research itself. but apparently it's made a comeback without having let anyone see it. man i got goosebumps all over me now

EDIT: my theory is that these spirits may be 'imaginary particles' like imaginary numbers that rec was telling me about.

I'm saying that we have no understanding of what a soul may be in physical terms in that it seems what was once thought not to be so very "material" in nature now appears to be observable in just such terms.

Didn't some quack somewhere claim that, at the moment of death, a person's body became fractionally lightened? What if that were true?

if that were true, I'd eat my trousers and you can call me Emily

i think its more likey to be escaping stomach gases. What next, the Asphyx? Even the dam' near-death experience and the "light" has been explained by the release of endorphins and such into the brain at times of severe shock and trauma, can't remember which gland it affects directly, pineal? will have to look that up.

But I can call you Shirley?

Reading on what's now being questioned in astrophysics, the mutli-dimensionality of the universe, the multi-versality of it, string theory, etc., I wonder where "metaphysical" ideas or notions of spirituality fit in. Might they not be just another dimensional aspect of our existence? Might they not be, in fact, "physical" states?

I think that's really wild speculation, Ed.. and don't call me Shirley!

I've often thought along similar lines, though. If "thought" is nothing more than neuro-electrical impulses in the brain, and lectricity being being EM energy can neither be created nor destroyed, then one could postulate where that energy might go after death. Could ghosts be nothing more than mental imprints, trapped energy "stuck" in our material world. Or maybe a "footprint" in time, an echo of some trauma?

I do actually believe in ghosts. I don't know what they are and prob never will, but I have seen a few, one in partcular was rather scary too, so I can say with some authority that there def is "something" whatever that might be. Urrgghh not very nice really...
