That's true Taw. I mean, most countries had Hoplite-type infantry at one stage or another, and they were visually comparable to the Roman Soldiers.

Perhaps the Chinese "Circlular History" is an outgrowth of their belief in Buddhism. You know, the "Great Wheel", etc. Or perhaps it is simply a manifestation of the old "history repeats itself" mentality that so many historians believe in.

silly fellow, I adopted the identity of ff as a meausre of self-protection for myself when faced with one of your "Avenge Australia" suicide missions. I think i'd been saying something nasty about wombats (not yours, theyre lovely)

back on topic: i think this view of history came about before Buddhism, but there may well have been influences both ways later on. Hindus also believe in a cyclical historical process, and so did the Greeks (Eleusinian mysteries were about nothing else)
