snow in uk

according to the weather peeps we are in for ****eloads of snow, its gonna get down as far as portsmouth. temperatures will be at - 7 but with the wind it will be like -14. not that i'll get to see any of it, ashford is somewhat of a paradox:

the rest of the country will be freezing slowly to death, and we...well, we'll be drowining in very, very cold rain. the surrounding villages will have snow, and lots of it but it will be free of snow, but bloody freezing, you can see it in the boundry line most effectivly. Snow down the road, turning to slush, and then puddles.

infact, its just started to rain heavily here, so that means some lucky bastard is getting snowed in

thing is, we arent normally prepared for snow, anything more than half an inch, and everything falls apart.

what kind of winpy place is that then?
the only way things shut down where i live is if we have to make a tunnel to get out our front door, which has yet to come

y was my thread locked?? i was only announcing i hooked up my router
if mine got locked, it seems to me that its only fair that AoD's thread about his keybord gets locked, its like the smae as mine..only with a keybord

I wish we had snow here in Aus. The mountains have some of course, but down here at ground zero, we're lucky to get some frost on the grass. Hmmm, it's the old story isn't it? You want it if you don't have it. Still, I'm sure I'd be sick of it after a few weeks.

Someone told me there was supposed to be 4 foot of snow! Sod school, I'm staying home.

Although, last year. We had about a couple inches of snow and it made our 20 minute bus journy into a 3 hour one.

what kind of wimpy place is that then?

the whole of England! 1 inch of snow this time last year and people commuting from London didn't get home that evening! They sat in their cars until morning and turned round to go back to work because the M25 was blocked...

Pathetic really.

@All my UK friends.

Well, we're at -6C today, forecast is for snow, 6 to 10 inches depending. This usually means that the City will get about 4 inches or less but the out lying areas will get anywhere in the range and sometimes even mroe.

No closings of roads or anything like that.

That story about the M25 being closed for 1 inch of snow is a joke right?

no indy, when we get snow, there is almost no readiness for it, hence everything falls apart.

here in kent its bloody cold, the diet coke i bought, while chilled was warmer than the outside air

Erm, forgive me guys - but do you actually look away from consoles to the WEATHER REPORTS at all??

Snow is expected in North Yorkshire tonight and it will make its way southwards. Living in Leeds, i should be getting snow on Wednesday - so your all expecting it 2 days early. You southerners will get it laters, mind you..........if I were in London - i would leave the snow alone! Enough polutants and mini smog cloud that a) You won't get any, it will melt before it hits, and b) If you do, it will be toxic

However, my worry is that as usual, power will be lost, phone lines will fall, and basically - i will end up burning my housemates lingerie to generate heat, whilst eating cold tins of chopped tomatoes Best go shopping cause i have no food as it is

*edit* - i need to learn to spell
