This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

well have lagales from lord of the rings take the elephants on by himself

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
its in the way

I knew you'd bring up elephants! They may be "better" than horses, but they cost enormous amounts to train and feed, and try rounding up an army of elephants. You'd be lucky to have ten in your arm! A well-trained horse would not be scared of an elephant and such as horses would be able to literally run rings around the elephants while archers peppered its eyes with arrows.

Note: I do not own that game.

oh plsssssss, I wouldn't even need 10 elephants, they're just for show anyway. they attract attackers like flies so are very useful for concentrating large numbers of enemy so they can be attacked from range then cut off before they can disengage, and what's more the effalumps can take a fair old beating. just a sprinkling of ellyfumps makes for a tasty battle, even though the beasts themselves are abit useless. By the time you've finished chonking around me effalumps, my archers and infantry will have engaged you and broken your attack up into disparate elements.

Note: i don't own it either (but can't wait!)

While I would LOVE to argue with you about the benefits of elephants vs. horses, we can discuss battle tactics in another thread, or when we exhaust the possibilites of this one.

I do not own that game either .

Mmm, no-one has any other topics? How about seige warfare? Sappers, etc? Any opinions? *Sigh* We could go into a minute description of the battles in LOTR and exchange ideas about how they could have used more effective tactics. If you really want to .

man i HATED the whole ghost idea 4 LOTR 3
it made the battle REALLY corny

The ghosts were in the book of course, so I don't think that it could have been left out without making the battle unbearably long, and angering fans.

Post Wed Jan 28, 2004 8:26 pm

yes but i still think its pretty corny for a movie
i bet the book was better -ive got all 3 but havent read any yet

The ghosts were fine in their dark domain, but once the appear in broad daylight they started to look silly. Why GREEN for God's sake? reminded me of Ghosbuster's slime ghost. Grey or glowing white woulda been menacing, in darkness! (remember the sun was supposed to be blotted out anyway by Mount Doom's constant spewing, there's a good excuse for dark scenes)

I reckon the ghosts looked fine being green,
but they weren’t transparent enough int the
daylight.

Hmmm. I've often wondered how the mobile "blitzkrieg" like tactics of the Mongol Hordes would fare against the Roman Legions. Both were highly trained, organized and disciplined fighting forces.

True, the main weapon of the Mongols was the bow and they wore much less armor than the Romans but at the same token, the speed, stamina and agility of the Mongol war pony had not been seen in Europe nor the sheer horsemanship of the Mongols.
