This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Weaponry

Here's an obscure topic for you; medieval weaponry! I have an interest in medieval weapons and armour, and I was just wondering if anyone else does. I was wondering about people's favourite weapons, etc. For me, I'm a bit of a sword man, however one my favourite weapons is the Kris. I also like the rarer weapons such as the Glaive, Guisarme, and Voulge. If anyone says that they like +2 Bastard swords I'll scream!

The trebuchet? The more advanced form of the catapult? Is that what you mean? The men in Minas Tirith used them in LOTR: ROTK. Good stuff!

I love my swords and daggers. I have a number on my wall. My pride and joy is my Katana.

Claymore for me please, although a nice battleaxe will do nicely

Methinks esq knows his stuff! I like sword/dagger sets, especialy the pretty engraved ones. Not that I have the slightest bit of skill with them. Crossbows are pretty cool too. Good ones. Balistas, but that's just a big crossbow. Chain mail is pretty neat.

Completely ignoring the "medieval" part, my favourite weapons are Airplanes, by far. My current favourite is the X-35, the replacement for the F-16.

Coming in close second, however, is my old fav, the all-too-sweet Sukhoi Su-37.

EDIT: I just though i'd take up some more room by adding some pics...

hm.. methinks maswastage and i share a common interest, i too like the good'ol sukhoi 37. i'm personally not looking forward to the F-15 series bein decommisioned.

otherwise, all i know are swords and shields, and hammers and axes and spears. i believe thats what they used in medieval times? oooh. the bows.. yes, i'll go for the enourmous bows please.

a good 3.8 foot wide oak crossbow with 1.5 foot long, poison tipped, electrum headed, oak shafted bolts please!

Either that or a diamond-bladed dagger, i love them.

Anyone ever heard of a waveblade?

Obscure subject? medieval weaponry? you been living under a rock man? there almost every RPG every made has a impressive collection of medieval weaponry, me, i know of mine from Medieval Total War, and Dark Age Of Camelot, both with detailed either descriptions or models of medieval weaponry. I have a few lets see.....

Trebuchet, these things are just cool..... too bad their literally unmovable (it has to be built on site, but it was used in sieges which lasted +6 months, known as Long Sieges to starve out a castles occupants)

Halberd, many types and knockoffs but the true halberd is arguably the best... what could beat a big axe on a long stick?

Polearm: these were very cruel and bloody, thus one of my favorites, when cavalry would charge at infantry they would prop these against the ground then impale the cavalries horses on them......

Bow, yes the old fashioned bow, be it recurve, composite, no matter, as long as its a normal bow, i prefer it far over a crossbow.....

Swords, well...... i like swords, their somewhat generic but i still love em, on the contrary to what someone said... i like one handed swords much better, the 2 handed ones.... uhm.... nah.... i actually kinda hate those, you would have to use your body weight to swing it and even though it is devastating.... it leaves you very open to attack, thus i love the good ol sword and shield combo or just 2 swords (hahaha, i was just thinking, 2 shields lol)

shields, smaller shields, the tower shield while effective are too big, i like a nice longsword (preferably heavy) and a medium sized shield (so its medium sized and effective but not too heavy)

Plate, man do i love plate and chainmail, or platemail...... preferably platemail, this stuff is awesome, metal plates with a mix of chain.....

maces, these were barbaric...... even someone wearing plate would suffer from the shock of the blow, and boy if it hits raw skin or chain your so screwed....or is it maced?

Serrated Blades, this was used in normal swords and pretty much any weapon, but much more effective and deadly on waveblades, its made so the top part of the blade is smooth to facilitate..........entry and the rest of the blade is heavily serrated (like a woodsaw) so when you stabbed someone pulling your blade out would cause even more damage than going in, a important factor on the battlefield, knowing that any opponent you stab would die no matter what, this was that times 5 more deadly when slashed..... but against people wearing plate it was virtually useless unless a weak point was found where there was chain (usually at joints and neck)

my idea of a perfect warrior would have to be a guy in semi plate/platemail, so that all major body parts are protected by plate while all others by heavy chain.... (or if we involve LOTR, Mithril chain and plate) thus keeping its mobility, i would have 2 somewhat heavier longswords with a bow and shield strapped across my back I actually scanned a picture off a game i found perfectly fitting this description..... ill try to find it

PS: oh not to forget the flowing cloak and hood

(or if we involve LOTR, Mithril chain and plate)

Nonono, if we involve LOTR, raggedy leather armor works the best. Proof: Minas Tirith's finests wear plates yet they get their asses kicked at every screen opportunity. The fellowship guys only wear leather and come out of battles unscathed

My favourite medieval weaponry in a game has to be the Armoured Swiss Pikemen in M:TW. These guys rock against the cavs I can't remember who I was playing as (Possibly Dutch) but I'd taken over the Popes provinces a while back. Suddenly he kept reappearing, no sooner would he appear and be defeated than he's reappear again. This happened about 6 times in short succession. He always appeared with about 8 or more Units of Royal Knights. I had 3 Units of swiss a. pikemen and a couple of normal pikemen, a couple of archers, the odd foot unit and a couple of cav's (one of which was a val. 8 general or somesuch. this army survived all these attacks without me once having to bring fresh units into the province

@FF

The fellowship guys only wear leather and come out of battles unscathed
I think thats more because they have enough skill not to be harmed in the heat of battle, plus the fact that a mainplayer is to be killed by a single stroke while he just stands there waiting to be killed by the first stroke that comes along

My favorite weaponry includes

A shortBladed Claymore (don't mind the logo)

A typical Claymore

The early Claymore

The baskethilted schiavona

As for oriental I like the Katana as depicted here

My choice of armor would be netch-Leather Cuirass with plated-iron Pauldron and gauntlets and netch leather boots with the top half of the body covered in Chainmail.
