I've never had any problems with it - adaware has found and removed several pieces of spyware from my machine in the past - I never noticed an increase in popups at all.

It's adAware, not adware

Zone - Thanks, it's good to know that I've helped one of the little people .

Taw - *sigh* I know, I know. It's amusing when they rail at you because they didn't follow your advice, but it can get REALLY irritating after a while. What can you do? Either tell them where to go (I can't at work ), or keep giving them the same info. Recording the messages, etc, sounds like a good idea.

WB - "Adware" and "Spyware" are removed by programs such as "Ad-Aware". But no, adware is one of the most irritating things that you can have on your computer. I've never had a problem with it thankfully, because I only download stuff from trusted sources, and I have paranoid firewalls and other protective programs.

Ad-Aware is very good, however many people swear by SpyBot. The only problem is that people have reported that it is a little TOO sensitive, and can pick up false readings. I haven't noticed this on the few occasions that I've used it however.

I have to thank you guys.

I installed Adaware on both computers at my house, and got rid of 80+ pieces of spyware/adware from each.

So, thank you. *bows to computer experts*

No problem. What kinds of adware is everyone getting? I would be really interested to see who the main culprit is. By the way, does anyone want to launch a DDOS attack on Gator, oh sorry, Claria with me?

Yeah, I've been using Ad-Aware for a very long time now. Also highly recommended is a program called Disk Cleaner, which deletes your cookies, temp internet files, temp system files, internet history, recently opened files etc. etc. with just one click on a button. Excellent proggy!

The most annoying pop-ups on the web, must be the ones from Gator and from GAIN.... (luckely I have a good pop-up killer now )
