..errr yeah well i suggest you invest in something like a Trupower self-regulating PSU, theyre pricey at £50 but well worth it, and a UPS, prob about £80 for a 300 - 500W APC one. well worth it if youre having these sort of problems, domestic mains aren't a particularly "clean" supply. saves all this kind of problem.

A good UPS comes in handy, as they can also help to protect your computer against brown-outs and power spikes/power surges.

Anything that doesn't boil, cook or fry your comp would do imo.

Of course it would! Any bets on how long it will last? Nah, a cheap option is always preferable, however a good PSU has a number of benefits. Unfortunately, unless you really need very stable voltages, silent running, or extra power, it's not really necessary.
