Classic Gaming

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

ooh lemme see...
Duke Nukem 1
Xenon 2
Raptor: Call of the shadows
Xargon
Jazz Jackrabbit
Biomenace
Commander Keen
Rebel Assault 2 (I could never get the original Rebel Assault to work on my PC)

This is all from the time when Apogge and Epic Megagames were about the only people making decent PC games

Duke Nukem! 8

Meteors, now that is a classic game, or Space Invaders, Pong - Come on someone had to mention them

Ever played Arcadians or Bug Blaster or Citadel or Castle Quest or Castle Master?
They were all quite cool.

I liked Day of the Tentacle, but not as funny as I hoped. Duke Nukem 3D was the only one I enjoyed thoroughly.

Anybody else play the lost James Bond game "The Stealth Affair" for DOS? It was set up like the Indiana Jones I mentioned earlier and wasn't great, but it's fun to have played a Bond game most others have not. It was on 5 1/4 floppies!

I really liked the first Dark Forces, I never got into the others nearly as much.

Anybody play LOOM, I did not like that game at all. But apparently some did.

I really enjoyed a game called "The Dig," it was interesting, well thought out and challenging.

And I have to add Star Trek 25th Anniversary game & Star Trek Judgement Rites, the only two Star Trek games I ever enjoyed and no longer will I bother to find out differently.

Anyone here ever played any of the Repton series of games? Some weird character collecting diamonds!

Post Fri Jan 09, 2004 9:53 am

i remember the Dig, i've still got the CD somewhere, i thought the cutscenes were beautiful. Never finished it.

i've got to admit that I liked Day of the Tentacle a lot. And Leisure Suit Larry (not to be confused with our dear departed friend Lethal Larry) oh btw LSL is back soon, in an all new 3d accelerated adventure involving scantily clad girls, casinos and booze.

as to esq's topic, i used to love Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (the original one, not the one that's just come out although thats by Lawrence Holland as well)

it's nice to have...um .....backups.....of my favorite console games.......um ....that I already own.

Good?....Bad?......I'm the guy with the gun.

Griff - I remember Keen! That weird one in which he is in "Dreamland" or whatever and threw fruit was the strangest of the bunch. I did think that that pogo stick was quite handy though.

Rec - I've still got Xenon 2 and Raptor in my spare FAT32 partition. I keep all of my games there (and on backup CDs). Those two games still have good VGA graphics!

SS - I remember playing those two ST games. They were pretty good, but a little monotonous for my tastes.

Taw - I remember LSL. I can remember that my father thought that they were very amusing. I played the first one through, but they never really worked for me. A bit too obvious in my opinion. I prefer my humour to be a little more subtle and understated.

Doom - Yeah, those text-based games were good. Anyone remember Zork? Classic. What about those great ASCII games? Eg. Rogue, Dungeons of Moria, etc? How you can have a fun game with ASCII I don't know, but they were very addictive! As for emulators, which do you like the best? Finalburn? NeoRageX?

"The Dig" is supposed to be great! I have never played it, and I really should. Mmm, next time I'm at work I'll download it.

@Taw

Bubble bobble was a coorperative game where you were a dinosaur that shot bubbles. Your teammate (think split keyboard) could jump on these bubbles to use them like an elevator, because once the bubbles hit a wall they would go upwards. You could also shoot the monsters in these bubbles, and then if you jumped on the bubbles they would pop and the monsters would turn into a banana which you could collect.
