Admittedly, Esq does start a few too many topics while other of his topics have not run their course, but his topics actually spring discussion, whereas your news announcements often do not. Why don't you start a thread called "news announcements" and every time you come across something the likes of which have been continually locked recently, post it there. And keep the forum lists open.

Wizard - I agree, the show wouldn't be anywhere near as good without Tony Robinson.
ff - I have fond memories of both "'allo 'allo" and "The Two Ronnies". Those are two are classic comedies!
SS - I know a rebuke when I read one. Fine, I'll post topics more gradually. Besides, why is having a large number of (hopefully) interesting posts a problem? We post in many different discussion all of the time. As for the threads "not running their course", how can this be determined (apart from a *click* that is

Back on topic, what does everyone think about the acting ? The comedy is good, but how well do you think that they act? I think that it is acceptable, however it is not an award-winning performance in my view.

But Black Adder - isn't it two words?... I can't remember now. It's been off the air a while. I've not seen all of the run... didn't even know there were so many more. I've only seen 1, 2 and 3 and the strength of those, looked forward to Mr. Bean. That was a mistake.

Posts, no problem. Too many topics, problem. Because if we want to be a part of them it means we must commit more time to do it. I'd rather have 3 good discussions than having to reexamine where I left off in 10 different discussions.

Posts, no problem. Too many topics, problem. Because if we want to be a part of them it means we must commit more time to do it. I'd rather have 3 good discussions than having to reexamine where I left off in 10 different discussions.

of course I know what Bean is about. ok under pressure i will admit that in very short doses some of the sketches are funny, but it's harmless slapstick no different to Harold Lloyd or Tommy Cooper silly scrapes. How it got turned into an institution I don't now. I find more than a few minutes of it excruciating and embarassing, although I find it amusing in quick bursts. Imho yet another good sketch idea that's been dragged out way for too long.

The way I heard it (from the mouth of Mr. Atkinson himself)
Bean is a revival of the old mute movies with physical Humor instead of Verbal Humor. Sure Tommy Cooper (one of my personal faves) and Benny Hill (THE personal Fave of mine) did the same but they applied some wit into their stories, For my part the best that ever came out of Mr. Atkinson is Edmund Blackadder, Bean was a try but didn't actually make it compared to the two geniuses listed above.
As for favorite Sketch from Benny Hill, Do you know the Club Bizarre sketch??
It is really hard to list it here due to site policy, but believe me it is worth viewing it.
Btw Neither of the three is my favorite actor, My favorite actor is Windsor Davies, due to his part of Battery Sergeant Major Williams in It ain't half Hot, Mum, That is my absolute favorite of all that has been made by Jeremy Lloyd.

Ah, Benny Hill ... When Benny was at his best, he was fantastic. When he was bad, he was bloody orful. Then again , he was on for 20 plus years. Who can be funny even for a few seasons these days? And think of all the fun he was reportedly having with his Angels... (sigh).
p.s. I loved Blackadder, but never really got into Mr Bean. Something sort of annoying about him, though there are hilarious moments. Compare Mr Bean to the old silent classics ... Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, even the silents Laurel & Hardy did. In comparison, Mr Bean is far too often simply stupid.

Why not rename this and the Red Dwarf threads "British Comedy"? And then merge the two?
