Indy - I need more information! . I can see an interesting conversation about the conjugation of various words, however I can spot no references to beheadings or feral rabbits. Mmm, maybe I just missed it...

@Esq's sig quote

The geek shall inherit the earth. - McBain.

I'm surprised you didn't use the Python version from Life of Brian.

"What did he say?"
"I think he said, 'The Greek shall inherit the earth.'"

Sir S

BTW, here's another case where a capital letter could change the meaning of the statement. My first intention was to capitalize "Earth," but I realized it was more likely to be used as you did it "earth." I always knew the saying, but I think it is more likely the fact back then they referenced the soil as opposed to the whole planet. A simple little capitalization would change the context of the statement. Don't you just love translations?!

Indy - Ah, I see now. It is a good scene isn't it? I glad to see that someone remembers a classic scene like that. I also enjoy the biblical reading - great satire; but disturbingly true to life...

SS - I wanted something more general than MP, so I went for a Simpson's quote. As for capitalisation, tell me about it! Just think, if your moniker were "sir Spectre" (note the lowerase "s" ), the whole meaning would change...

By the way, I was thinking of having a "Simpsons" thread as the next in my series, but I imagine that it has been done SO many times that it would be locked in record time. Is this an apt analysis, or is it worth doing?

@Heretic, I went to the Ministry of Silly Walks to get funding to develope my walk, but they turned me down saying it was really a saunter and not a walk at all. However, I think its because they didn't want to give funds to a Yank.

How can anyone put anything above the dead parrot sketch? You all deserve to die. --- VH16

Nickless - You know, the world doesn't revolve around you... oh wait, yes it does! What's that in the sky... nah, it's just a hot-air balloon.

VH16 - I mentioned that sketch in my opening post! Sheesh, some people jus don't pay attention... . Damn straight, the "Dead Parrot" sketch is great!

Does anyone remember the "American Defence" animated sketch? You know, the one with the Asian Communists and the toothpaste analogy? That is GREAT satire!

@Esq

hot-air balloon.
Speaking of, the "Golden Age of Balooning" was the only post-Cleese Python episode I really liked. I thought the whole Michael Ellis Episode was dumb. It's no wonder when he left the whole series just went downhill.

SS - I can vaguely remember that, but I haven't seen MP for a long time . I DID catch "The Meaning of Life" a couple of nights ago though. It has its moments.

I was definitely disappointed with the Meaning of Life. The show is great as a skit form, but movies just can't maintain the momentum of a chain of skits. Both Grail & Brian had thoroughly creative stories to back up the comedy bits, but Meaning of Life was just a free flow of ideas.

Though, the greatest highlight of the whole movie was the Terry Gilliam's opening short film about the chartered accountants sailing & destroying the modern cities. Unfortunately it was sooo grand and wonderful, that it put the rest of the film in its shadow of scale and quality to which the main film just couldn't match. Nor was it meant to, as Terry Gilliam went entirely too far according to their budgeted numbers.

I agree with your views on "The Meaning of Life". Those piratical accountants are quite amusing. The scene with the Grim Reaper, while a bit obvious and overdone, wasn't too bad though.

My brother just sent me "The Life of Brian" and the "MP and the Holy Grail" DVDs from London! I'm looking forward to watching them. Now if only I had some ginger beer...
