Noo! Freelancer gone forever! (Well, for me anyways)

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Noo! Freelancer gone forever! (Well, for me anyways)

As some of you know, my old (crappy) 896 MHz got fried. I now have a new 2.6 GHz comp which I'm very happy with. However, since I got the new computer, I can't find my FreeLancer disk. I usually keep it in my F:\ (48x CD-ROM, now E:\ 48x CD-ROM) drive, but when I went to play it, I realized that it wasn't there. I don't think I left it in my old CD-ROM drive but I can't find it anywhere! And to ask for a copy and a CD-ROM crack would make people accuse me of being a pirate (computer-wise) or something. Now I can't play FreeLancer anymore .

Anyways, if any of you have any suggestions on how to solve my predicament (hope I spelled that right) please reply.

Sincerely (emphasis on sincerely ),
Viper

buy another copy, or check your drive(s)

Are you sure you didn't leave your CD in the drive? Assuming that you brought your PC to the shop: When I bring mine away, the guy at the store always makes a note when I tell him that there's a cd in the drive (happens alot, sometimes two @ the same time (CD and CD/R drive) ). Check your receipt or your paper you got.

If not, I'm afraid you have to buy a new copy.

If you can't find it, you should either download a dodgy copy from the internet, or ask a friend to burn a copy for you. Yes, technically it is illegal, however as you previously paid for it, I think that it is ethical. Still, before I get "flamed"; "Piracy is bad!", etc. Actually, I like purchasing my games; I'm a fan of glossy manuals. In fact, "Hordes of the Underdark" is being released today in Australia, and I think that I'll go and pick up a copy. Damn! Going off-topic again... erm, good luck in finding that CD. Yes, that should do...

The above post is true, and by true I mean "false". It's comprised of lies, but they are entertaining lies and in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is "no".

I am sorry to hear that Viper, But did you not just leave it on your computer furnishment or something and then buried it by just a load of garbage???
(the same way I lost my synthesizer CD)
if it may help to that point, I think you could clean out your comp. desk
Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't
(ignore the statemnt if you desk or whatever you use for your Computer is as tight as a pantyhose)

I looked everywhere I can think of and I can't find it. I'll wait 'till the price goes down a bit more and I'll get another.

And I think there is a distinct possibility it might have gone to ye olde shoppe. It was in my CD-ROM drive if it did, and when I checked it (One of the pieces that was salvaged) it was empty.

@Wolfy:
Yeah, that's why I understand it .

@Viper.

I don't know if it is the same with your packaging but my CD case for FL includes the serial number. If you have the CD case....

Maybe you can call up MS and see if they'll let you download the game. Just a thought. I couldn't hurt to try it .

Post Wed Dec 17, 2003 9:52 pm

I never got an actual jewel case. It was just in a box with a cheap paper thing with the FreeLancer logo on it. I do have the CD-key, but I doubt Microsoft will let me Download a copy, or even put a copy on the internet period. I hear they had a bounty for some hackers too.

Post Thu Dec 18, 2003 1:38 am

ya, but if you call microsoft and tell them your serial # they just might mail you a copy.

Post Fri Dec 19, 2003 1:34 am

Serial #? You mean the sticker on the back of the cheap cardboard case that says "CD SET: ***-*****"?
