X2 The Threat (yes, another thread, don''t auto lock!)

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

i tried x2 around my friends house, he ordered a copy from the us, and my god is it beutiful,

i went to dock inside a station, and it was scary, i mean how often do you dock inside a spinning space station? i panicked, and was spinning the opposite way to the station, and then end over arse, it took me 20 mins to sort it out, and i loved every second.

haven't played Elite have you ? there was no more fun then match the spin speed and try to dock manually (thank god for the first 4k credits to buy a docking computer)

Ah yes, I remember that. Although I beleive ff is talking about when he is actually IN the station, trying to find a free docking berth. Thats right, you fly around INSIDE stations...

@Griffon, yes.

AMD 686 450mhz <--Pathetic isn't it?
512MB SDRam <--Started with 256, finally had to add some
3dfx Voodoo 3000 <--First one fried, using another I picked up 2nd hand
10GB HD 5200 RPM <--Maybe less RPM, I'm guessing.
Win98

Owned it for 5 years and with tweaking, was able to play all my games until recently.

Ah, did you get the game freighter? If you need any help just give me a buzz!

It is quite hard to get the cash to do what you want, like to save up for a Destroyer (over 50 million) would take literally DAYS of playing non stop (real time), and thats with a factory and a few trade ships doing your work for you. Most people put SETA (time accelerator) on and go do something else for a while (even overnight for the hardcore people) while their trade network rakes in money. Thats what I like about the game!
And you have to think strategically too, for instance, it would be silly to place a solar power plant (SPP) in a system with many other SPP's, and no place to buy Crystals (required for the SPP to produce energy). So you have to search for a place where demand is high and the resource you need is nearby, for a reasonable price, so you can be making a profit. And its not just SPPs, there are Ore mines, shield factories, weapon factories, Crystal Fabs, research labs, computer factories, countless other things which require other resources to run.

Theres nothing more fun than setting up a massive trading network and parading round in your M2 Destroyer while it rakes in cash!

Another cool thing is, Battles. Large battles. Think you in a Destroyer, with five other destroyers, a carrier, corvettes, and countless small fighters, versus a mass of Alien (Khaak) clusters. And you control the ships. Its almost like a strategy game, advancing, withdrawing, flanking,...and get this....you LOSE!!! For once your can't just get one thing and PWN the world!

Joy! Rapture! Happyness and such! My godfather gave me an early christmas present

Only problem is that d*mnable grafix card. Remember my HW2 debacle Griffon? Might have the same problem now Haven't tried it yet, so we'll see.....

Anyhoo, I'm looking to get me a new computer that doesn't suck

FF!!! Soz mate, they take the TP off you after you return....but BEFORE you contact Elena again, SELL THE SHEILDS!!! They rake in 400k. THEN Elena gives you a nice freighter!

Post Tue Dec 23, 2003 11:42 pm

lol, sounds like you wanna do too much to fast. I think you need some mining upgrades for that. Your best bet is to trade energy until you have enough for an SPP then set your freighter to buy the crystals for that, and maybe another freighter to sell Energy, and go explore in your Disco.

disco? the other thing i did is get max rudder upgrade on my lil scoutship, it turns on a breadcrumb now
