@nickless - lol. jeezaz man you're in dirty mode today!

personally the turkey dinner has to be with Roasties (roast potatoes), carrots, broccoli, sprouts (whether you like em or not, its just one of those things!), shed loads of gravy, plenty of sage and onion stuffing (home made, none of this paxo rubbish) and an enormous glass of sparkling wine....top it all off with a sh** party hat from a cracker, a bad joke (from aforementioned cracker) and a pack of Alka Seltzer. Bravo.

So...what the hell is pineapple bread??!

..and of course Christmas is the traditional time for turk, not that Thanksgiving thing. What do you Ya.. erm Americans have for Crimbal dinner then?

Post Wed Nov 26, 2003 5:20 pm

@grom thats a hard one to explain (no recipie handy) but ill try.
It's like a sweet buttery bread with chunks of pineapple in it sounds a bit off but it is very tasty. Usually we have it with ham but the last couple of Thanksgivings we have had it. on the cracker thing the only reason I know about party crackers is because of Harry Potter.

@Taw
Turkey if possible My mom wont make turkey on Christmas any more(too much work she says) but we have had for the last couple of years a standing NY strip roast. cooked at like 180 F for like 6 hrs. I love turkey but that is sooooo good.

@ grom yhought id better clarify your post before our friends over the pond think we are wierd (oops too late) sprouts are brussels sprouts not anything like the sprouts they have in the states
as a footnote you shouldve seen the gf`s face when we were in vail and she got a tuna bagel ,they asked her if she wanted sprouts on it ! (dont think that would work with the brussels variety yuk)

@Taw, what my family has alway done on Christmas, and I am carrying on the tradition, is crackers, chips, sausage and cheese, deviled eggs, dips and a veggie tray just out for the whole day so there is no cooking involved. We just get up and eat when we are hungry.

On topic:
I love mashed potatoes, string beans, deviled eggs, corn, pumpkin and apple pie, gravy, mashed potatoes, more gravy, stuffing, 7 layer salad, mashed potatoes and gravy.

yeah.... did mention mashed potatoes and gravy.
