@mole WC Prophecy doesn't work on XP?? what happens? goddamn - I just upgraded my machine and I was looking forward to trying out prophecy on a decent system...

Actually mole not hard at all Origin released Wing Comander Prophecy Gold that contained all the secret ops.
@ff click? not warez I believe they were freely distributed at least until Gold came out but of course I could be wrong as to advertising? *shrugs* dunno already have both ver of WCP standard and gold so this is not gonna make go out and buy it (if you even can anymore)

'course it works on XP, i was blasting away on it this weekend. take no notice grom. if u have probs just use the compatibility tab on ur shortcut icon to change it to 95/98/Me compatibilty always trust ur Uncle Taw!

@The Mole, played many space sims have u? WC ai was never good, what drove WC games was the visceral combat and the engrossing storyline. FL's ai isn't that much better, but again it's a funky game and gives u a captivating universe to live in. Freespace & Freespace 2's ai was a lot better, as was Homeworld's (ok thats space RTS but it suits my purpose)

@taw yeah its prophecy gold. I had a go with it yesterday...all of the movies ran at 4 times the speed (therefore unwatchable), but the game played pretty well. it was weird though, when I first played it I was amazed by the graphics, and when I loaded it up yesterday I was gutted with the low res cockpit and enemy. i suppose it just goes to show how good freelancer is because it still amazes me when I play it...

the graphics engine and the flight dynamics were always a bit primitive on Prophecy, Freespace p*st all over it in those respects. Gameplay stood up well, story was q.good although not the best WC instalment, great intro though! FMV usual WC high standards (I'm amazed ur having probs with them btw) and of course plenty of Maniac's antics.

Secret Ops was the best action game of the WC franchise, I've downloaded some expansion missions beyong the original Origin SO campaigns. They were made by modders, I don't have the ability to try them yet, but I will soon.

Also, from Mario HCI Brito I have a great resolution enhancer for Secret Ops and Prophecy which increases the graphical detail by a LOT.

@Taw, no, I think the lens flares only worked with 3dfx cards. The enhancements are larger size screen resolutions. Like mine went from 640x800 to 1200x1480 or whatever the numbers are. It's just increasing all that you see on the screen at one time. He had to reconfigure the guages on the screen to fit the larger resolutions.

I fortunately had a 3dfx VooDoo 3000 card and saw all the beautiful lens flares.

nopers u can dload a D3d patch that allows u to see the lens flares even if u aint got a 3Dfx chip, and fogging too. I've got it somewhere, pulled it off one of the WC websites

I'll take your word for it, for my next computer I will have to download that. Was it from WCNews.com? That's where I got mine.
