I just got back from seeing The Matrix Revolutions and let me tell you now, that film kicks ass. Not the same kind of ass that The Matrix kicked, this was a whole new kettle of ass. Firstly, the majority (> 90%) of the film takes place in the real world (which, as I correctly predicted) is still the real world, none of this "the real world is the matrix" paranoia which worried me that the Wachowski Brothers were actually stupid enough to pull a plot twist out so old lame and outright supid it would have been easier for me to accept if neo was to wake up, back in his appeartment, late for work. Secondly, the story and the premise of the whole film has moved away from the themes of the first one (Reloaded and Revolutions being, at least in my mind, a seperate entity and a single film) its now become a part of the Matrix appendix if you like, consider 'The Matrix' the main story, a question of the natrure of reality and control and Reloaded/Revolutions as sort of spanning out the universe, they discuss what happened later. I dont think of it as all the same though, its like the Animatrix or something, a whole new story to flesh out the Matrix universe and its peoples. You could quite hapily watch The Matrix on its own or in the trilogy, it all depends on what your after u suppose although i'm pretty much gonna guarantee that some folks wont agree with me on that but anyway, as an ending, the film worked well.
Speaking of endings, with most films that I follow like this, I can guess the ending, figure out an ending in my head or at least understand the direction the film will take. Of course the specifics are bound to change but given a situation you can more than likely conceive of a plausable outcome. I went into see this films with NO preconceptions about how the film was going to end, simply because I really had no idea how they were gonna do it. I suppose thats because we were left with so many questions by the end of Reloaded that the story could literally go in any direction. Luckily they stuck with the least annoying explaination for Neo's powers while in the real world and it seemed to work out quite well story-wise.
Its quite hard really to talk about the movie without giving away vital plot segments and just basically saying how *****in' they were and to do any kind or review your writing for people who havent seen it, so not only do they not have a point of referrence, but your now spoiling the final film. The way I decided to get around this it to basically talk about stuff weve already seen in the trailers:
The Defence of Zion - My GOD this is cool, basically billions (250,000 actually) of Sentinels swarm into the dock in Zion and it just looks awesome, what youve seen in the trailers is only a taster. I defy any man (or woman...who likes the Matrix) to watch that scene and not go "Holy ****!" just absolutely awesome.
The Super Brawl - Great, some bits were a bit naff but for the most part this was a well done and original fight, taking place pretty much anywhere they ended up while fighting no matter what the axis (X,Y or Z). Theres a really sweet part of that fight I liked, where Smith and Neo are fighting in a dusty, empty room and are just lit up by outside lightning and the two shilouettes battle it out. I think that quick segment is one of my favorites of the whole fight, possibly of the movie, this doesnt bring the movie down or anything, I just thought I looked awesome.
Club Hell - Doesnt really deliver, unfortunately, this could be for many reasons but its probably just because weve seen alot more tech than this, so this so its nothing new any more. I'm starting to sound like a Matrix snob or something but, yeah, the feeling of 'been there, done that' sinks in straight away. Lots of gimps though, so maybe its ok. Quite shocking that Persephone only had like 2 lines for the entire film, and we (i dont think) didnt even got a shot of her ass in this one...for shame.
In all I liked this film alot. A worthy end to the trillogy and an end so complete that we wont really need to go back and maybe try and squeese more cash out of the franchise. Its not the action packed 'holy cow' kind of ending I know some people are expecting, but it does pretty much answer all of my questions (theres still a few left unanswered but i'll debate those in the Forums) and completes the series into something I will come back to enjoy again and again. Starting with tomorrow, which is when i'm seing it again

Shure sounds good from your review, and heck, even if the world said is s*ck*d I'd still go. Its the end of the friggin matrix trilogy for heavens sake!
