Fix My TV

Oh...hello, didnt see you come in there.
Y'know how it is, you live away from home, you want to dodge the TV Licence so you get a TV Card for your PC.
All goes well for a year or so, but you come back to uni and all of a sudden, your software goes the way of the pear.
I NEED HELP!!!, ive missed FAR too many episodes of Stargate and Enterprise for this to continue to be funny. I'm considering buying another new TV Card that actually works, but not before i get you ladies to try and put your heads together and come up with a reason why my computer makes me want to smack it up like a cheap hooker.

I have an "ATi TV Wonder VE" card, it installs great with the drivers, i come to set up the area i live in and the cabling and, well this happens:

Where that blank drop-down is, that should be chocked full of countries if i remember rightly.
Any help welcome, i'm at my whits end, and you might be saving me 60 notes

TV licence? Do you mean you have to PAY to have a TV????! Or is it just for cable?

.........Sorry, thoughts of cheap Microcrap.. I think you should:
1. Remove said card from PC
2. Buy new one
3. Install new one
4. Start a fire
5. Dunk old card in petrol
6. BURN SUCKER BURN!!!!
7. Find out what you missed
8. Plan next burning.......

That help you Archie? Hope so.....

@bob in the uk you have to pay a "tv license" if you own a tv that can receive the main 4 terrestrial aerial channels. Its a complete rip off that everyone moans about - but they have special vans that patrol the streets, and if you get caught receiving the 4 channels without a license you get fined £1000 on the spot. Its a BBC/British Government scam...but thats politics so we'll leave it there.

I got caught once as a student without one, but I whipped the back off my tv while my housemate was at the door distracting the evil tv guy. We eventually let him in and I managed to convince him that I was trying to fix a tv that I found on a skip (*boo hoo, we're just poor penniless students, boo hoo*) and of course when it is fixed I would be mooooore than happy to pay for a tv license

Dozy *******! He didn't even question the fact that I'd managed to find what definitely appears to be a 32" Widescreen TV in perfect condition on a skip!!

@archie so my advice is buy/rent a tv and a set of screwdrivers or ditch your tv card and buy a new one, the choice is yours!

how old is the card and what version of the ATi software are you using? also was the card retail or oem?

if you get REALLY stuck, it just so happens I have an ATi TV Wonder Value Edition (retail) with a late software bundle, going spare.

basically the card came with the computer but i didnt need to use it until a year ago.

Anyway, i am running the latest sftware drivers and multimedia center from the ATi website.

i think it might be microsofts fault, i didnt have the card installed over the holidays cause i used my tv at home. I installed a windows update and all of a sudden it said "new hardware found" and i think windows is now screwing where it doesnt belong. The hardware runs fine i thinks.
If i cant get this to work, i might have to do another format of the old hard drive this weekend

when you put the card back in, did you put it in the same PCI slot or not? if u put it a differet slot the OS will see it as a new device and not necessarily apply the sware to it correctly. had the previous installation been properly uninstalled or not? if you did uninstall it properly did you also roll back the drivers, or just uninstall the software suite?

i suspect there's nothing wrong with the card, u just need to unistall it properly, and re-install it and it should work. btw i never get them to work first time, it usually takes a couple of gos. try attaching it to a VCR or something so u can get a clear input signal.

all TV cards are rubbish except Hauppage and I hate those too.

i'll give that a go the next time my pc is off.

i want to get a hauppage tv card though, theres one, with preview on it, for 60 notes. now THATS value.
if my boss decides to pay me, i'll **** off the TV Wonder and get the new one. that is, if he plans to pay me. recent estimates say he owes me $2000+

what are you retarded? i'd rather get a FIX than BUY a new one? jeez you must be the goddamn tool of every industry if you just buy a new one when the old one stops working, even though its NOT broken. How you stumbled into computers is beyond me
