I don't think so. Would be a shame if it is. If it's because you never hear about them I think it's because they are so few and its so "secret"

I always admired the Mil-24 Hind. beautiful machine imho, big tough mean-looking.beastie. saw quite a few of em on patrols and exercises. very impressive.

ff, most of the world could see the Comanche and Raptor in Hulk and never know they exists. Most people aren't that attentive about things like that.

No, the Camanche hasn't been mothballes it's just moving very slowly.

The Hind is nice too. Very capeable and yes, a "mean looking beastie". Are you in an air force or somthing Taw?

The Hind is one of the toughest copters out there. It'll take more damage than some APCs.

no I'm not. I used to be Royal Navy. My father was in the RAF, his best friend worked at Lucas Aerospace and I was always around planes and aircraft factories, so I know a lot about planes. But I always preferred ships.

eeek someone from the senior service being asked if they were RAF wow thin ice

anyone know anything of the ww2 british fighter prototype by avro designation"utility fighter" it supposedly flew rings round spits and all other fighters of the day but was cancelled due to its balsa construction (as in same method as the mosquito)

it's ok steel, it's when people ask me if i was a bl**dy pongo that I get offended!

btw sure it was an Avro design? there was a Miles M20 utilty fighter (looked like a small Typhoon) which fits ur description.

My grandfather was in the RAF during the War, and was a Rear-Gunner (either Lower or Upper) on one of these Planes:

i read "Sigh for a Merlin" years ago, it was by the Spitfire chief test pilot (don't remember his name) it was one of me dad's books.

i still don't clock this Avro thing of urs, to my knowledge Avro made no prototypes of anything but bombers and transports during the war, ur description does match the Miles M20 (it was low wing monoplane with spats and v.large intake under the prop hence why looks like a Typhoon) it was tested in 1940 but by the time it passed testing we'd won the Battle of Britain and it wasn't needed anymore. however I'd like to know the full gen, if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

@ff kewl but shouldn't that be pronounced (gutturally) Uuuurrrew-faytttairrrhhh?
