Why did you lock my topic "Privateer download"? It wasn't warez, cause the game isn't sold or produced anymore...

That doesnt mean its legal to download off the internet.

And in terms of abandonwarez, its on the fine line between legal and illegal....

There were court hearings that said that as long as the game wasn't produced anymore, its perfectly legal to download and host them. That site has been forced to take off some games: Daggerfall, and a few others and they complied. So, since the game isn't produced anymore, its fair game, and is considered sort of freeware. If it wasn't legal, then why would that site be around still?

Warez sites don't publicly advertise themselves. You'd be hard pressed to find a warez site that hasn't been shut down, and isn't private.

Do a google search. Warez sites are very careful to not be on google. Real ones that is. The Underdogs are on google anyway. Besides, someone I know, whos like 10 years older than me is one of the admins there, so I know all about the laws.

Right. Warez are illegal. Abandonware isn't. Besides, I can get about 30 people I know to come argue here, so 31 against 2 would be pretty weak.

@the mods, one of you should really find out about this, but personally I agree with Cheese on this, as long as no one gets any money for any of it and the game is not being sold anymore then logically sharing the game with people that would otherwise not get it would be a good thing, in fact the game developers might encouage it becuase it might drive the person to actually buy one of their games that is still selling - think about it, makes sense.
