June 1rst, 2003 may very well mark our Doomsday

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

When you think about it, if the Earth completely stops rotating along its axis, there would still be day/night cycles...it's just that night-time would last a year and day-time would last a year. This is because the Earth would still be rotating around the sun, it just wouldn't have the 24-hour clock that we all live with. If one side of the Earth were to be in perpetual darkness or perpetual light, then the planet would have to have the same axis rotation as the solar orbit. In which case, Earth turns into Remus from Star Trek: Nemesis. Cheers.

Damn, looks like I missed out on a good thread. I love debunking stuff like this. Too much fun Planet X type stuff is almost up there with the no moonie loonies - almost

Post Mon Jun 02, 2003 2:31 am

Well, why don't you post retro-active, Tach?
Oh, and someone said that time would go back if the Earth changed it's rotation direction. What a pile of bullsh*t! Who's theory is that anyway?

there are many other better problem in the world other than that damned planet X men something..

No, the theory is: Since the universe started in the big Bang, and expanded from then on, it would either have to expand infinitely, or crash back down to a single point again. Therefore, if it did come back to a single point, some think time would go backwards.

I know that... Look here, my post on the bottom of the page...
But I'm sure that I read somewhere (can't remember where...argh) that should the Earth start spinning in reverse direction, the time would go back... THAT's the BS that I'm talking about.

10'000 Lemmings can't be wrong

Break the bone the body heals, Break the spirit the body dies.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will,
Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness,
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

The Earth's spinning doesn't cause gravity. All objects exert gravitational forces on all other objects and the strength of the force is dependent on distance between the objects and the mass of the objects. Compared to people or air molecules the Earth's mass is really big and that's what causes everthing to be attracted to it. The Earth's spinning causes a centrifugal force that would throw everything off if it weren't for gravity. Remember the last time you were on one of those merry-go-rounds in the park. The faster it's spinning the harder it is to keep from flying off.

The Earth's weather patterns would be all messed up if it stopped spinning but the atmosphere wouldn't fly off.

Anyway, it's June 2nd and there hasn't been any cataclysm.

Let's get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

Sorry if I may have scared anyone (or gotten anyone's hopes up; this means you huffer) but it seems that this theory was wrong. I still think that there is a planet X, but I always felt that it would not come in my lifetime. Oh, and sorry about that, cpbuja; I didn't know you had posted about that universe-expansion theory before.

and I though physiks and school didnt go toghter, this treath expands faster then the big bang.

That gravity comes from the spinning of the earth is a pretty common misconception... I think people hear magnetic field (from the core) and think of gravity. Sigh...

Maswastage, check out this link.

Now you've got me wrong. When people look at this post, they think I made this up. I did not; and therefore this is not my theory. In fact, I mentioned that I, personally, never believed that there was a planet X coming. I posted this because I "thought it was an interesting topic" and wanted to hear other people's opinions. So don't go looking at me whne you want to flame this theory for being wrong.

And trust me; i'm not one of those people who think gravity has to do with magnetic fields or the spinning of the earth. In fact, I like to accept Einstein's explanation (that all objects leave a "dent' in space and that gravity is like riding you're bycicle down into that dent, ect. ect.)

3rd of june.. We like tha moon! And I can see the moon coming out..
We like tha moooooonnnn... what bull**** are you talking about?

Maybe the planet can be there. But I expect some serious trail of dust and gases if it ever comes by and that alone, if it pass thru earth orbit around the sun, would cause some serious problem.

But having it change the spin direction of earth. nonsense.
Gravitiy comes from earth spin...another nonsense..
