i'm new to all this but have read up on it here and want to try making a simple gun mod. I have done the changes to two of the ini files and zipped up the whole data folder is there any way to avoid using such a large file in the zip.flmod file

Er... well, yes, most questions that aren't obvious do get answered. If they're asked in the right place. Start a new thread in either this section (if you're pretty sure this is a beginner question) or in General Modding (if you think it might not be a common problem).

The thing is... 99% of the information you need is in the Tutorials, or available by searching the Forums. That 1% is usually stuff that you'll come across after dealing with the basics. Unless, like me, your very first project is extremely difficult (I built Warriors of the Sky as my first mod), you will be able to do what you want in a pretty straightforward way.

The problem's the fact that your posting in an information "sticky" , if you'd made a new thread in either this forum or the "General editting" forum then your question would have been answered.

We don't get paid or anything to help you newbies, and there's precious little glory... so if you're "not impressed"... I'm sorry, but what part of "free help" do you not understand

I help because:

A. I can.

B. I'm nice. I have a low tolerance for stupid, but basically I'm a nice person, and I help anywhere from 30-40 people a month via these Forums and email

C. I hate playing badly-coded, buggy, poorly thought-out mods, and want to help people learn how to make them better. Game design is a skill, just like anything else- and I've been designing games since I was 12

...so post your questions, in a new Forum post... to either the Beginners or General Forum. So long as your questions are bleedingly obvious (like, "how do I code a ship", you will get help and advice. To get the best help possible, post your code and explain your objectives in detail, and you will get replies.

Hi
I am new here
can you help me?
I wanted to make a mod for Freelancer, but everytimes when I want to buy the ship, the pc goes out of the game

Post Tue Dec 13, 2005 7:07 pm

Alright, I have read most of the tutorials and have a basic understanding of how some of the files are linked together, I ahve DL'd the appropriate files to mod and have followed the basics tutorial to the T.
Here is my problem

nothing works, nothing at all
I DL'd the SDK and installed and now have access to the ini files
I open the files using the notepad cuz this Bini prog im using takes forever to load and makes the file look confusing (perhaps my first problem lies here)
I followed the creating a station tutorial, checked for spelling and capitalization (if that matters)
everything is fine... in SP and SP No story as well as MP the station is nowhere to be found, as if the changes to the ini files are'nt even there.
I want to begin modding but if the basics don't work then I cant do squat
I need help.. what am I doing wrong?
I will provide aditional infomation upon request to better help whomever to find a solution...
Im not a NooB to freelancer but I am a complete NooB to modding it.
please help
{ Here or by email it does'nt matter to me }
{ email [email protected] }

I have continued to try to fix my problem by making the changes to alternate files and running it under the FLMM in both SP and MP and still I get nothing

as well as there is still no responces here in this thread

Does anyone still read this part of the forum?
