The problem with one system will be that there is a death zone in FL (Don't know how wide it goes). Biggest system I have made was 360000 and not run into many problems (Except taking forever to get anywhere). Btw, I have also found a way for the Firefly engine to glow. I have some screenshots of it on Shadow Work Studios.

This sounds like a great Idea, it was the same for Me when I seen serenity I bought the TV series, after that I was looking for Freelancer to have some fun because of Firefly, but a FF mod would be Wonderful as that is what I was looking for! Too bad we cant mix FPS in it. lol

I now know why so many mods start out and never get finished.

I Must have recruited comming on about 12 people now that have joined me at one stage or another, and i've assigned them tasks to do. only to find out 2 months later that they gave up 1 and 1/2 months ago, and there not interested anymore. Like when they started out, they were more than happy to work on some part of the mod, but 2 weeks later, they cant be bothered anymore, or they've run out of time.

I know we all have other lives other than FL that we must also juggle, i know this, and somtimes we all have more important things to do. It seems very few of us are as fanatical about the mod, as when we signed up. I constantly have to keep recuting more ppl to replace the ones that have left. Luckly i still have a fair amount of loyal FF mod supporters that are working with me to get it up to alpha stage.

I need new members, that are hopefully as comitted to this as i am.

* I need more modelers/textures
* Someone to wirte custom Rumors
* Someone to write Plannet/space object descriptions ( I have RPG info that u can use)
* Someone to compile all my infocard data, into a custom .dll
* Someone to convert all my .tga icons into .3db
* And anyone else willing to join, im sure i can find a task for you

I can provide all the refrence/further info that i have.

You will find that there is no end to people that will say they will help but when it comes down to it there is no staying power. For example, when I started my mod I had four people and now I am the only one working on the mod. I basically ended up doing everything myself (Not finished yet, I have the Missions and Base NPCs to place yet).

Godzero, XTS Studios is thinking about making a Firefly Mod. Maybe you can brainstorm with them and get this mod going with their help.

i've already been in contact with them, how ever due to the production gap between our two mods, a joint effort wouldnt be posible. I did how ever offer them i place on my team, but i am yet to hear back from them.

im not sure how another version of a FF mod will work out through, (unless me and my mod team totally blow it, But from what i've seen so far, i seriously dought that.) Since My mod will definatlly be released before theres. ATM we are hoping to release the alpha in the next month or so.

Looks like a kickass idea. Firefly is one of the coolest shows i've seen for ages. I hope this mod gets finished.
I don't know anything about modding unfortunatly, so i'll just wish you good luck in getting it done.

Ive just recently been watching firefly and trying to track down some decent mods for any game at all to get my firefly fix! but to no avail..

Anyway, hows the mod completion going?

just an update on the mods progress,

I've started codeing all the finished ships that we have and hopfully soon we'll be able to put it with our FF system and then an alpha release shouldnt be far off.

Look to tell you the absalote truth i would not play that... not yet anyway
It sounds bloody awsome but only small ships and small weps no other galaxys or systems. to me that sounds boring... trading now thats the best idea for a game like this. but you need to think real time. What have we got to play with in resources in the real world? food, water, air, materials. think of those sorts of things...



I like the limited fuel idea though thats the best part lol

personally i would say this mod has a high potential if its done in the correct way (which means more than just systems and ships)

i would have created such a mod myself but since there is already such a project i dont see the need for this
