Hehe, ok - back to being (semi) serious.

Ok, regarding the new torp, missile and such class designations, I really like that and it came as a pleasant surprise. Actually, the whole way that you reorganized the weapon classes in the ship infocards into light, medium, heavy and so on, instead of class 1, 2, 3, ... really adds to the sense of realism, and fun. Nice work. Though, could you send me info on where the breakpoints are for each level? That way if I make any changes to anything, I can at least keep them in the same general level.

Something that you need to know, unless you already do, the autocannons need ammo! I haven't found a place yet that sells ammunition for those things, and the urge to test them is killing me, even though you already know that I normally dislike weapons that use ammo, I want to be thorough.

Hmm, since you're aware of the handling issues, I may go in and do some editing to clean that up a bit, if you don't mind some of the ships are dragging their tails a little too far, and as such, running into planets.

I think I may modify the handling of ships to be a little tighter, instead of tail-dragging for a ways. Hovis' mission shows just how bad that can get. Try using a Rapier against him (without having him in a Defender as I did eventually), you can't win... At least I couldn't after 5 tries (I wasn't feeling too patient after the third try, I usually beat him first try)... I'm gonna go in and make the Rapier's stats closer to the original Dagger's, though I'll still make it so that it will drift a little bit when you change direction. As I will also do with any other ships that I think might need it. Freighters and such are supposed to be heavy feeling, but not to the point of uncontrollability, so I'll also go in and fix that too. I'll try to comment the code to let you know what I change

Well, I think I can safely and accurately conjecture that the Ravencalw is one of your personal favorites, given your numerous requests and inquiries regarding it Ha, just messin' with ya.

Hmm, well, at the moment, ArchKaine, awts0c, and I are pretty much the mod team. We just felt torn between a mixture of a couple different feelings after Rebal hit the iceberg - chagrin and disappointment, that such a huge amount of work, testing, and really great work went down the drain just like that; anger (heh, for me, at least ) that all the work would not likely see the light of day simply because of a friggin power-surge; and a kind of ... optimistic relief and hope, that we could start again from a clean slate, hopefully building a new, stable, and unique mod/universe.
So, I don't suppose that another mind could hurt. If you'd like, we can start communicating via email; you can start feeding us some ideas and suggestions, and we'll see what we can cook up. I'll give you some more info in email ...

As for the Ravenclaw, I have not asked Firebase yet about it. However, we are considering making it a mercenary ship, should he give a green light and it be included. There are going to be several merc factions throughout Sirius in the mod, allowing interested freelancers to find a merc guild that offers the type of ships, weapons, gameplay-style, allegiance-requirements, and - most importantly - payment that fits their tastes.
However, aside from some select ships that are already borrowed with authorization from their creators, we are trying to keep all of our ships more-or-less original, unique to SirEx. I guess we're aiming for a type of mod in line with Asylum and Epsilon, offering mainly ships, weapons, factions, and other elements only available in SirEx. So, long answer in short form: it's a definate maybe, though just that for the time being

Hmm, well, I have 2 new Liberty LFs sketched out, as well as a new Liberty (V)HF. The last Rheinland VHF on the list is also laid out in my pile of scribbles/stay-awake-during-seminars material I have a new shielding system hewn out, ready to be coded. And about 10 new weapon models and new types to be implemented when I return to my nice, comfy, caffeine-stocked modding HQ

Ah, man, they're closing the computer lab on us here soon, so gotta run.

Ro9ue I have already some complicate bases that they have never used before. If you want I can sent them to you in order to add them to your mod. Also I can help you to build a total 3D universe with much more bases and planets.

Ro9ue just remember that all those ships need shipdealers,ghost dealers like Rebalance just don't look right.

As for the rebuild of Rebalance I've had to start over,like an idiot I was deleting some of FLMM's mods (shift-del)and didn't realise that I'd selected the rebuild folder as well,and the data recovery prog I use can't find the files so all that work's hosed,serves me right for not making a backup.

I can tell you guys where a lot of the problems are in the system files-ZONES,every edited zone in the vanilla systems has been done wrong,and as for the new systems **shudder**,most of their zones were done I believe with FLE.About 30% of the encounters work,the rest cause the CTD's.

FLE has a problem in that it allows you to add any faction to any encounter,unfortunately a lot of the factions don't have the ship class to appear in some of the encounters,which cause syntax errors in you CPU,combine these with the hardware errors that are already there and it doesn't take very many bad ships to give you a CTD.I've ask Louva-Deus if it's possible to fix this in a future version.

So Ro9ue watch how you edit the zones in your new mod otherwise you'll end up with a crash fest like Rebalance.

A little note to all who might be interested in helping,

Please let us know if you want to help, and also please let us know what your strongest areas are. Such as, are you good with ship Modeling, or scripting (Hey Argh, are you paying attention here? ). Do you have some new base ideas? Let us know

Just so everyone's on the same proverbial page here... I'd like to ask that all current team members put up a link to their email addy's here on the forum. Mine is: (for those who aren't aware already) [email protected].

Anyway, for those who are interested in helping, we thank you for your interest, please give us time to get organized before you start submitting ideas though

yeah, the ravenclaw is the best ship i have flown in any mod yet. also i dont know how much i can contribut other then doing tests and giving ideas on ships and weapons. however on the ravenclaw i like it because of the handling and the amount of weapon points, shield mounts and the speed. however if you want to upgrade it you can add another lvl 10 shield mount

as for helping mod like i said, i dont know hwo much i can help you people. other then give ideas and help test i really think im usless. however if you want me to i can give it a shot, i would like to help though. e-mail me, [email protected] put freelancer in the subject box so i know its not trash please.

ask firebase about that new ship he was working on. can't remember the name, but it was black and yellow (pic on forum). it looked like a police light/med outgrowth of the ravenclaw.

Shawn, that ship is the Black Lance, and it's one of my favorites. I think it's in the newest Epsilon Mod. you may want to give that a shot, so to speak

Ro9ue ,I'm in the middle of editting a couple of thn's to give Rebalance a bit of variety in the shipdealers, two for each house. Their nothing special just altered camera angles and character placements, but if you want a copy for you mod let me know and I'll mail them to you.

I think that the Warlord is already in use in epsilon Mod, and the guys over there want to keep that one to themselves, to the best of my knowledge. anyhoo, I think it's better to keep the ship where it is now, so that the intent behind the Nova Design team's placing it in their mod isn't diluted by unintentionally turning into yet another "plug-in ship" for some other mod.

Just my opinion, of course.

Regarding the other guy, I unfortunately have not heard anything about him. I hope that if he's in the Hospital, that he gets well soon, and if he's no longer with us. I wish his family and friends well, and send them my condolences.

Again, in my opinion, dedication ships and equipment should stay where they were dedicated, unless the Dev's want to open them up for everyone.

Ah, ok - home sweet home! Sorry it's been a while, but had to get resettled after getting home.

And my moding side just couldn't wait - after 11 days of deprivation, I had a pile of sketches and layouts for new weapons, ships, and other goodies So, the first thing I did once I turned on my comp was to implement awts0c 's new Rheinland fighters - 2 LFs and a hefty HF. After getting these up and going, I decided that I couldn't wait any longer to make something - anything So, I sat down, started trusty (or sometimes not-so-trusty, heh) Milkshape, and after about a day and a half, the newest Rheinlander machine of war was born The Fenris VHF can carry some nasty firepower, very heavy armor, and a lot of cargo.

I also have destructible components partially working on it - w00t! But for now, the only way that they work is if they are blown off by a missile or mine explosion - gunfire and impact damage doesn't effect them yet. I am presently trying to figure out how to make this work, but I'm not making too much progress yet.

Anyways, Rheinland Police and Military ships have new loadouts with the new Rhein weapons. Try not to piss off House forces - when all's said and done, they'll be quite deadly The BHs have some serious revisions to .. well, to everything about them New engines, thrusters, weapons, and ship stats. But I won't spoil it for now

Hmm, there's more to tell, but I have to run for now

Hey Bejaymac, I'd love to see some new .thns! I actually hate them myself, as they make no sense to me and I've spent hours pouring over uncompressed lua's .. ugh. But yes, so long as I don't hve to edit them myself 'Cause that'd mean it would woun't get done.

Oh, as for new ships, still not sure yet. Heh, sorry to be indecisive, but we still have a very long road ahead of us Lots and lots of new stuff that will be unique and one-of-a-kind (courtesy primarily of good ol' awts0c and the new cmp exporter Custom ships, complete with destructible components and custom cockpits; custom weapon models, new oridinance models ... w00t w00t, eh?)

I've gotta run here, apparent;y need to pick up sister on spur-of-the-moment. So be back later.
