This is a really cool and origional mod, i think you guys have done a great job. One thing i would really like the mod to have is better modeled/textured ships. I cant model myself so i cant realy critisize but could you please see if you can impvove on the models. Everythings else is great though, cant wait to see the first completed version (not beta, alpha and the other stuff like that). You guys have any idea how many betas there will be before the full completed version?

keep up the good work.

True victory is not crushing your opponent on the battlefield, no, my friend, true victory is when your enemy regrets opposing you in the first place.

from what i have seen/ done, the new ships/ aircraft ect are of a higher quality than the previous release, ive gotten better and more experianced, and we didnt have to ry and rush it out so much, so whenever the next version comes out, i think you'll be happy, but keep in mind as far i know other than necro, no one else has done any modeling/ texuring in anything but this mod....

oh really??? what did you work on?

Post Mon Feb 28, 2005 1:32 pm

@Nighthawk:

We're glad you like the mod. The next version is probably the last one that will be released, so we're taking our time here to make it as cool as we can make it. I'd say we have at least another month to go, and probably longer- I'd rather have things be "right" than "soon"

Post Mon Feb 28, 2005 6:37 pm

That’s the way to go with just about everything you do. Just wondering though, why is this going to be the last release? You're doing a good job with the mod, and I suggest (theoretically) using kill engine effect for gravity (if you haven’t already) I wonder if it is possible to make it go in a certain direction... if not, you could always make it so that when you kill your engine or your speed hits to low it triggers a .THN script and cause your ship to fly stall and fall to the ground and crash... and stuff... It is just a thought though.

Best of wishes.

If you could control the direction of the effect you could try the multiple engine mount bug to make airplanes drop like a rock when you hit the engine kill button.

It'd be a pretty arbitrary "drop", though- you'd just have to pull a 90 and then you'd "drop" forward.

It's not nearly so annoying a problem with bombs, which I've been working on making (yet another) version of for Beta 2... they really just shoot "down", but because they work with the ship's real forward momentum, they work fairly well and are almost impossible to use in a non-intuitive way.

I just don't think there's any good way to do a gravity simulation in FL's engine, period. Which is too bad, since from the way that early shots showed players interacting with planetary surfaces... and DA probably had it in the code at some point.

And if *anybody* knows how to make THN scripts interact with in-game objects... I'd love to hear about it. We could fix all sorts of problems with them, such as having objects with moving parts. So far as I have been able to determine, though... THNs are only able to be called by Scenes, which are part of Rooms... and you cannot see Rooms in Systems, let alone invoke a Scene inside of a Fuse or anything.

Make a clean installation of freelancer and try again. That should solve all problems. Before you do that try deleting or moving the saves. Sometimes they can cause crashes.

Try FLMM's "delete autosave" option. That's almost certainly what's causing this crash. It is also possible (although not probable) that you have junk left over from another mod that's crashed sitting in your FL Data folders or DLL files, and then you should delete your Freelancer folder and do a fresh install of the game.

I heard a lot of mention of making this SP compatible so i assumed there would be a server.
I got on the MP global host and there aren't any 17.1 servers available-anyone?

Post Sat Mar 26, 2005 1:42 pm

there should be a bobway server called something like bobway's warriors of the sky server

Post Sat Mar 26, 2005 1:44 pm

Well... it appears that Bobways took it down, without bothering to tell us about it

At any rate, B2 will be single-player compatible , and is progressing fairly quickly, considering our goals, which are, as usual, pretty huge. I'd say that... if we're lucky... B2 will be done by the end of April. And will feature, among other things, large cities that people will be able to fly through, vastly improved custom Bases, a huge number of new vehicles, new weapons... and lots of other things- too many to go into detail. It'll be almost a whole new game, built from the ground up. We've been working extremely hard on this mod
