ok, about removing the ocean.... what about replacing the bases with floating ones? like a world of floating islands?
that cound open up a whole new dimension of a mod.
ALSO:
could we make clan bases?
or better yet,
Destructable clan bases!
they would be empty, but we could have a "clan nexus" where all clanships could be purchased.
we could keep track of clan wars by the number of bases remaining.

OR:
clans battle for posession of bases, intead of destroying them.
once again, massive roleplay windows opened.



i still think floating islands would be a good idea.
a sky captain: world of tomorrow theme would'nt be too off course, because it's much like crimson skies.

Destroying bases has always turned out pretty bad. The problem arises when someone is on the base when it blows. Servers don't handle that well...

yes, but iff the destroyable clanbaases where empty (no weps,nanos or ships) then nobody would want to dock

wouldn't removing the oceans make stuff happen like planes flying underwater? or only sky maps removing boats and ships? or some other stuff like that? and the base controlling idea sounds really cool. could that be done in a single player mode like players can buy systems or islands/bases and have attacks by computer controlled factions and fight to control territory and build armies to attack with you?

while that might fix it, have you ever used the ships/ hover tanks? theyre a lot of fun, and there are a few interesting surprises for Beta 2, that if there was no ocean, you would miss, and trust me, you would be sad...

well, we could have diffeent systems.
one for standard goegraphy, And others for more interesting worlds.

Ok, here's an idea. How about leaving the ocean and the whole system just as it is, but make a new system to look like our solar system. Then near the planet earth make a jumpgate instead of a docking ring. That way it'll look like somebody's actually docking onto a planet. Then you can make a docking ring in the sky over oceania so that only planes can go to space. Then you could have enemies appear only in space. You could even have the nomads attack earth to make a story mod for SP. This opens a whole new string of ideas for the mod, such as multiple jumpgates round earth for multiple earth maps, a mars map etc. To add to the realism, you could make planets huge, and if you could get the planets to rotate then we've got the best mod on TLR

Actually, I was thinking about the same sort've jumpgate idea... but what I was thinking was that it'd take people to a world that's just sky, clouds, and bases suspended in the air. Obviously, it'd have to be a pretty small world.. without the ground or other major features as a reference, people will get lost very easily.

That'd be a lot less of a stretch than aircraft with propellers flying around in space, I think. And I could start SP games there- it'd be fully-compatible with SP and give people a chance to learn about air combat, etc., in a place that's a little less complex than Oceania.

At any rate, I think that's the way to go, and I'll take a shot at building such a place here in a bit.

That jumpgate idea is awesome! you should also make it so that certain aircraft can't go through certain jumpgates to prevent ww1 aircraft battles in space. with many different worlds in sky, sea, land, and space this would be the greatest mod yet if AI was included!

ok, we could have oceana as a sea-world, and a large suspended base world in another sector through a jumphole in thwe air

come to think of it I agree. It'd make a great mod, but it would ruin this one. Maybe once WOS is finished and the crowds are flooding the servers we could think of doing a WOS 2 along those lines.

maybe you're right. but space aircraft would be cool. and i'm having a problem with OpenSP_v1.1 you can find the details in the using mods help forum in an article called HELP!! with OpenSP_v1.1. it's a little wierd.

open Sp is included in the mod... no need to activate it again....
