The Monkeys 1.1

Hi everyone!

I know, that it took some time, but I will release the next version of my mod in about two weeks (This date can be changed, if I encounter problems, because I won't release the mod if tgere are major bugs in it).

During the last month I thought of adding some new commodities (mainly contraband, like in the black market mod that I liked very much). So I want to ask, if you would like to have some new commodities in the mod. But if I add new ones, I will do this in the third release (maybe The Monkeys 1.2), because it will take some time to add commodities, whcih fit in the original game.

For those of you, who played the first version of the Monkeys, here are some additions of the next version:

- A new faction, the Robots from Planet Gammu.
- New ships, like a Monkey LF, a Monkey Fr, a Robot VHF, a Robot LF, the CSV, the Juni Defender and some others. (I chosed models that for me really fit in the game)
- Some new jumpholes in likely locations.
- Different jumptunnel colors

I hope you'll like it!

Okay, the mod is on the site now. I'm not at home for two weeks, so that I will not reply to your posts or your E-mails, but then I will be back again.

So please if you got some ideas for the next version or if you have a question please post it here. I will answer it as soon as possible. I will also sometimes post some news about my advanteges with the next version. Okay, that's it, thanks!

Can you please make the next version of the "Monkeys Mod" with a save that has you neatral to all factions? Please? Oh, and also thanks in advance for the great mods.

Thanks, King Li. I'm glad you like the mod.

I think it will take some time, until I release the next version. So, you maybe want to edit your savegame manually. The Ioncross Freelancer Character Editor is a great tool for that. You can download it here on lancersreactor. There you can define, which ship you fly, which equipment you have in the cargoroom, on which base you are landed and of course also that all factions are neutral to you.

You can also activate my mod in FLMM and then you can activate OpenSP 1.1 (download it here on lancersreactor). With this mod you do not have to play the whole story and you are neutral to everyone except of The Nomads, The Order, The Monkeys and The Robots.

Yes it does, I downloaded both mods (IRONCROSS and OpenSP v1.1). I got to the UNKNOWN Systems and found a bug. Whenever I try to buy a custom ship,the gome only goes back to the Ship Dealer Room. For example, "When I go to Planet Primus, I go to the ship dealer and see only Trent,the Monkey Dealer,and the hoops in the room. When I click on the Monkey, the buy ship screen pops up and then dissapears." Can you please fix this bug? While using this mod, I had these mods on: AlPal's Everyone Loves You MOD V.2, Porsche's Cylon Raider, 58th Weapon Pack (Missiles), 58th Weapon Pack (Guns), Real Nomad Fighter Mod, OpenSPv1, Hyper Weapon Pack, The Monkeys Mod 1.1, and SP Money Mod on. The mods that didn't work were Porsche's Cylon Raider and Real Nomad Fighter Mod. Is it because of those mods ^^ ?

Oh and on your next version of your mod, I have some ideas for the next version of your mod and the savegame.

*Nomad Battleship, Fighter, and Gunboat byable on a New Nomad Planet in the Nomad 1 System.

*New Nomad ships as powerful as the Anibus Mark 2.

*Nomad Shipyard, Nomad battleship, Nomad Space Station,Jumpgates to other systems and jumpholes, and Tradelanes in Nomad 1 System.

*Nomad Outpost Now has a Bar With Possessed People. <<< o_O

*New Monkey 1 System with a Monkey battleship, a moved Monkey Rock Outpost with a Ship Dealer(Looks Like Nomad Outpost in Nomad 1), a New Monkey Planet, a Monkey Space Station(Looks like Monkey Outpost that was in Nomad 1), Jumpgates to other systems and jumpholes, and Tradelanes.

Could you please make a mod where only the Monkey Heavy Freighter is in.. I cant seem to "Get it" from your Mod.. And i just love that ship..

Duh, go to the Unknown 2 system and then go near the upper sun (in the Nav Map) and go into the Nomad 1 jumphole.

Hello, I used your patch on my Freelancer, and it took, after I cleaned out my Single Player directory and then copied my savegames into it. But, during play there were no writing on any of the popup menus on planet, or even in the Main Menu. If I didn't remember the menu order I couldn't play. I couldn't buy or sell or save my game without straining my brain.

Hope you can fix it.

when i downloaded your monkey mod I have a big problemwith it. All mission information, weapon info, tactical map and every thing has changed to that it reads IDS?. could you give me a heads up here?

Okay, I'm back from vacation!

Nice to see that so many people like my mod. Thanks to all of you for playing it and for reporting the bugs and your ideas:

King Lin:

You are right. You can't buy the ships, because of the other mods. If you used FLMM, you should have seen, that they conflict with my mod. They also overwrite the file, in which it is said, that for example Planet Primus sells the Horus.
So, please do not activate any mod taht conflicts with my mod in the FLMM, otherwise you surely will encounter such problems.

Many thanks for all these ideas. Some are really good and I maybe will include them in the next version. Thanks again and have fun, playing the mod.

Kwitzak: Sorry, but I do not have so many time to mod, and the time I get I spend to make the next version of the Monkeys. But you should be able to take the Monkey Freighter from my mod.
At first, if you want to release an own mod with this ship, you have to ask baene for permission, as he is the creator of the model. And please give him and also me credit if you release this mod.
Now, for getting the freighter out of my mod.
You need the following files:

shiparch.ini (in Data/Ships)
monkey_freighter.sur (in Data/Ships/Monkeys/Freighter)
monkey_freighter.cmp (in Data/Ships/Monkeys/Freighter)
monkey_freighter.tga (in Data/Ships/Monkeys/Freighter)
engine_equip.ini (in Data/Equipment)
misc_equip.ini (in Data/Equipment)

if you want the monkey freighter shield:

shield_equip.ini (in Data/Equipment)

You should know, that in these files are also my other new ships. You need only the parts with "monkey_freighter" at the top. For example in the shiparch.ini:

[Ship
nickname = monkey_fr (this stands for freighter)
archetype = xxx
...

Then you should be able to get the freighter out of my mod.

If you still get problems, please look here in the editing forums, how to include a new shipmodel in the game. You will find several guides that can help you getting the ship out of my mod. Hope this helps!

Gord and W4lt3r: This is not really a bug. Please make sure, that your whole Freelancer directory is NOT write protected. This bug occurs, if your exe folder in the main Freelancer folder is write protected. If you still get problems, please download and install the FL SDK 1.3 and the Unofficial FL Patch 1.4. This should really fix the bug. You can download these tools here on lancersreactor. Have fun!

Mace Nosam: I used lots of different tools and it would take much time to write them down here. But there is a thread here in the editing forums:

Go to the editing utilities forum and look in the thread "Utilities, Tools and other goodies". There you should find all the tools needed for editing with a short description.
Now some tools I needed very often:

FL SDK 1.3 (all ini files, successfully decoded and ready for editing)
FL Ed-ids (to make your own new names, descriptions and texts appear in the game. For example a ship description)
FL Explorer (I used it only for the orientation and position of the objects in the new systems, because it has some bugs)
FL Ini-analyzer (To find bugs)

But there are many others, as you can see in the thread i mentioned above.
I hope I could help you and would be glad to see a mod made by you. It's everytime good to see new modders. Good luck!

Love the mod, love the systems, love the ships (Anubis MK2 Baby!!!).
but I can't seem to get missions on the any of the new bases.
could be included in version 1.2, but if not still...

This is really strange. Normally you should get missions against the Nomads on any of the new bases, except of the Nomad Outpost.

The only thing I can immagine is the following:

If you used an old savegame from the unmodded Freelancer, the Monkeys, the Order and the Robots will not hate the Nomads, and therefore will not give you missions against them. So, if you used an old savegame, please start a new game, or use OpenSP 1.1 from Xerx. You should then get missions on the new bases.

If you did not use an old savegame, please tell me some things:

1. Did you play the story, or did you play the game with OpenSP?

2. What level are you?

3. What reputation did you have with the factions you want to get missions from?

4. Did you use the Ioncross FL Character Editor to edit your savegames?

It would be nice, if you could answer my questions.

I just began the work on Version 1.2 and I'm working on the following things now:

- Four new systems (one for the Robots, one for the Monkeys, one for the Nomads and one system, which will have a small surprise in it. I will explain this if I get it to work)

- Some new menuoptions and movement commands (change the difficulty at any point of the game, strafing up and down, rolling, etc.)

But there are many other things to do for the next version (also some of King Lins ideas. But of course it will take some time. So be patient and play version 1.1 and all the other great mods for Freelancer.
I'm always happy to get some good ideas for the next version from you.

And to answer your questions, I did you use my original save games (which were completely unscathed by patches, other mods or anything like that [Freelancer v1.0) and I shall try your suggestions as promptly as possible and get back to you.
