Hye everyone.
I'm now working on a new design of cargos. If you're interested, let me nknow it and i'll send you the working files. Of course, it isn't finished yet. All i've done is modeling one ship. Just wait less than a week, and that will be done.
Anyway, just ask me if you want special ships (but not too complicate !)).
THERE and THERE are a cell-shaded render of the cargo (not yet textured but i'll do it with original FL textures, if i can. it will add realism).

Well, have someone ever been able to read FL textures ? I tried several times with many tuts and never succeed to. Can someone give me all the textures of the SHIPS\UTILITY\utility_transport.mat in a readeable format ? Please.

May not be the right thread for this request, but I can help you. Download the UTF editor (if you haven't already). Open up the mat file, go to the texture library, and open up the texture you wish to use. Click on the ".tga" node and click extract. Now in the UTF editor there's that spot above the hex value that usually says a bunch of garbage. If it says anything looking like DDS, then extract it as a .dds file. These are microsoft direct X textures, and you can find a plugin for photoshop to edit/save these. If you need the plugin, let me know. Once you have edited the texture, import it just like you exported it, but make sure it still shows ".tga" in the node name when you're done.

Well, i've download the Kasdian tut (that contains the required plug-in). But it seems that the plug-in that make photoshop able to open these files don't work.
I've added it in the photoshop Plugin\File Format folder but there is no *.dds in the photshop open format list...
There is the problem !

No need to worry anymore !
I've got the clue to my problem. 3dsmax is able to open dds files without any plug-ins ! So, i'm now able to start texturing my cargo.
Forgive me Cardamine if i've squated your topic.
I'm still waiting for work propositions.

Just plugins, not plugins\file formats... Not sure why, but that's where it is in mine, and it works. I'm running version 7, so if you're running a different version and it still doesn't work, perhaps that's another variable.

As i've said above, it will take at least a week and at max three. Depends on the freetime i can have...
Well you want pics, but i haven't finished it yet. Just wait less than a week and you may see it in the TLR downloads !
Also, i've got two models that i haven't textured at the moment... I don't have any time to do it neither. If you want, i send them to you and you'll just have to find a texturer (try baXXer).
Sorry again Cardamine and don't forget that you can ask me for some ships (or anything else) too !

@Louva-Deus (in reply to e-mail) - I shall consider your suggestions and have thought about some things you've said. The sleeper ships used a 'jump' drive like all ships in Starlancer to reach Sirius, and a cruise speed of 3000 is the closest I can get to this in Freelancer without attemptimg to write a whole new program!

Cardamine, i've seen in other topics that you're not very good at INI manual editing. (ex : the hispania sleeper ship) If you are (even a litlle) good at FL editing, you can easily find the part of the file that contain the infos about it :

So now if you want to add a sleeper ship in any of your system, you'll just have to put these lines anywhere into your system ini. Of course you can change the rotation, the position (can be done easily with FLExplorer), ids name, ids infos and faction. It's not so dificult ! (for someone that can make a working system without any other help than Bini, anyway !) If you have any sort of problem, just ask me and i'll surely be able to aswer.
