durr how about a car? lol like a mustang? who says all modded ships should be from space....


Make like a mustang or a Me 626? Or even make the space shuttles or the Saturn V? or the apollo crafts ....LOL EVEN MAKE SPANISH GALLIEONS?!?!? come on you have to make some of these things a little bit more than "realistic" people that can mod good should make non-space craft just as novilties?

I thought Zaarin died at the end of Tie Fighter for trying to use a cloaking device on a corvette while entering hyperspace? If so, what else can there be?

dude that one is awesome!

and another update on my republic gunship: its done with the skinning and everything is in a mat file and the model is exported as a cmp file, so i just need to do the stats, and edit a gun to be a beam weapon.

Zaarin did die at the end of TIE Fighter. But what I was saying was Thrawn still had access to TIE's at that point. Thrawn, not Zaarin.

That Z-95 looks good. But there are two things. (I'm a perfectionist.) The wings are a little too stubby, and you have floating wing weapon hardpoints. (You can see a space between the wing and the gun.) But thats easily correctable, and this is the best Z-95 I've seen so far. One and 3/4 thumbs up! If you want to see what I'm talking about with the wings, check out the official star wars site, and go to the ship databank. But other than that, I'd like to get my hands on that Headhunter if you don't mind. :-)

Truth be told my wings are a bit too large, not stubby. Using a visual reference from the SW.com site, the wings are 4x the width of the engines. If you look mine are about 6. That was done to include extra weapon hardpoints.

I know the hardpoints are floating, but I was trying to decide wether to place them in the center of the wing like in the picture or more towards the front so they protruded and would look more like the actual SW type weapons when mounted.

Hey kurgan,

I got an Idea. Why not make the chambers (you knowm the long rod on the edge of the wing that the gun attachs to,) and then make the guns forward in front of the leading edge of the wings. I don't know if you understand what I'm saying, it's kinda hard to explain. Mount the hardpoint beyond the leading edge of the wing, and have the end butt with the chamber. Kinda like the star wars site pic. That should solve the problem. One more problem though, you would have to change your weapon archs, so they don't pivot wildly. Co6balts X-wing seems to have the idea right. I like your model more though. His is way too small.

I mean't bulky, not stubby. Sorry. I was talking about leading to trailing, not inward to outward. Width not length, but I spent some time studying your picture last night, and I think compared to the star wars pic, it's not so bad, and I upgrade it to 1 7/8 thumbs up! :-) You gonna post it? I'd love to try it out.

I cannot believe this! This thread has stretched for three pages and still not ONE post suggesting the old Elite ships! Star Wars and WC in all their glory can never compete with THE space sim - Elite!

Please won't somebody put together an Elite mod with all those classics - the Cobra MkIII, the Asp Explorer, the Krait, Adder, Boa, Anaconda, Fer de Lance and all the others.

Plus the ships from the sequels - Panther Clipper, Mantis Transport, Imperial Courier, Imp. Explorer, Harrier, Griffin Carrier...oh I could go on for quite a while. I don't know exactly how many ships there were all in all, but I'd love to see every single one in Freelancer!

I think there are 3ds models for all the original Elite ships available at Ian Bell's home page. Someone more clever (and with more time on their hands...) than me could probably put together an Elite mod using those.

Anyone interested?

The ships from Tachyon: the Fringe.

A Robotech Valkyrie and/or Super Valkyrie.

The Sunracer from Space Rogue, the granddaddy of Freelancer's genre. The Sunracer has a light fighter's armament and a freighter's carrying capacity. There are three weapon hardpoints: a missile launcher in the nose and an energy weapon placed on either side.

Has anyone thought of doing cruisers and fighters from Star Trek. I know most people don't realize that they have fighters in Star Trek, but I think the movie Nemisis was a good example of Romulan fighters!

about T-F sequel, as for me i'm willing to play same missions as in original T-F but on 3D ships, these rebel sims suck, alliance suck, LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE.
