For more details on what this expansion of the freelancer universe will be encompassing, see below.

Freelancer: Level2 expansion will consist of the following modifications.

Primary Objectives

1. All level requirements (in credits) multiplied by 4

example: to get to level 2 is 4k. in this mod it will be 16k

2. All ships and equipment price (in credits) multiplied by 4. shield batteries, nano bots, mines, missiles and torpedoes would remain normally priced.

example: a falcon would cost 275k in a non modded game. in this mod it would be 1,100,000

3. Anubis fighter being the VHF sold on planet Pittsburgh for a price of 320,000 credits (80,000 in comparison to normal unmodded game)

4. Juni’s fighter available at battleship rio grand

5. Junker’s freighter available.

6. All jump holes form SP opened up

7. Several more missions involving fighting capital ships and escort duty.

Secondary Objectives:

1. Create jump gate routes to the systems: Alaska, omicron major, omicron minor, omicron beta, and the 3 unknown omicron systems.

2. Make nomads a faction, available to fight in the afford mentioned omicron systems. (including battleships and gunboats.)

3. Make the nomad fighter available at planet primus.

4. Make gunboats purchasable.

5. Create ambient cruiser and gunboat traffic.

6. Include at least 1 new star system per house and faction

7. Give Britonia, Liberty, Kusari and Rhineland 1 VHF fighter each.

the multiplier

A lot of people have come to me w/ concerns for the multiplier. Naturally I can see why people would not want to pay 48k for a defender. However I do have a method to my madness. The biggest problem w/ the freelancer universe is cargo runs. You can make a cargo run in about 15-20 mins and make near 175k per run if you’re in a drone class freighter. That freighter only cost 60k. The dromedary can carry 275 cargo and only costs 70k. Most good players can get to level 38 in just a few hours of play. IMO this makes the games longevity and interest short. I am also concerted w. / balance however. And I don’t want to wreak the balance that DA put into this game. So, the solution was a 4x multiplier across the board. All levels, ships and equipment get the price increase. The cargo and consumables do not. This does several things for us.

1. It gets players more interested in light fighters they would normally ignore like the patriot and bloodhound.

2. It inspires people to take harder missions, and work together on cargo runs to make more money

3. Gets people to hire mercs and other factions to escort them safely on dangerous cargo runs.

4. Makes it easier to get into your ship by level 5 and get into your chosen faction by level 20 because the factions are also higher to get to.

Combined w/ the new missions the multiplier system will immerse players into their characters and help them to exist into he freelancer universe, rather then just plow threw it, missing althea details, in just a few hours.

Just a side note. I was able to run missions and carry a bit of cargo in my Starflier and defender and had 94k in about 3 hours the other night, form start to finish I put 3 hours into a new character and had an Anubis. It wont be as hard as everyone thinks.

Is this mod serverside, or clientside?

And waht kinds of Capships are spawning?

Is this mod compatible with other mods, or not?

Post Thu May 01, 2003 12:27 pm

1. this mod is server/client.

2. battleships, cruiser, destroyers, gunboats are spawing in all systems as far as i know.

3. as for compatibility im nto 100% sure. i think its probably compatible w/ some mods, but the price multiplier, which is the core of our game will limit what kinds of files can be installed after our mod.

Would you perhaps be P81 of Bridge Commander fame? If yes, then.....omg, I'm so glad you've started modding again, your BC re-textures made me play that game far more than I should have lol.

This new server sounds excellent, is it possible to mod my version of the game with this and turn it on and off via the mod manager, or will I need to run this on a seperate copy of Freelancer altogether? Furthermore, is there *any* possibility of porting some of your Trek stuff into your server (or release them seperately for everyones own discretion), it'd be nice to see you go back to that on a way

Anyway, cheers.

Deliverence out.

yea, thats me. but that was quite a while ago. minion still released models i do tho, if your still looking for new material from me for BC.

anyway, our mod is flmm compatible, and no way are we adding trek or star wars material to this game. this expansion will eb freelancer universe style stuff. staying w/ the tradition that DA began.

The future versions will have more things added like the unlocked jump holes and gates and more systems with more stuff to explore. This is all still a work in progress that is being updated as we get things done, do not expect all of this to be completely done on 5/2/03. By the time we are completed it, it will have whayt is listed, and quite a few more secret goodies for people to find on their own by exploration.

P81 no offense my friend but we may have to start proof-reading what you post before-hand so we don't end up with an angry mob all over us LOL

Hmm... capital ship encounters. Come up with those yourself?

(recent events have me a little on edge, so forgive me if I'm jumping to conclusions here)

Post Thu May 01, 2003 10:10 pm

Sound fantabulous

I'm on the edge of my seat... roll on friday.

Thanks for all your efforts.

Don't worry I gave you credit in the readme file. =) Let me just say that I couldn't have done it without you and others like you who take the time to post tutorials. Thanks a bunch!!!

there is more to come!

Excellent, this mod and it's scheduled future enhancements will make it the mod to play.

It sounds like your team is being very carefull not to upset the balance of the game.

Nephilim, I would suggest waiting till the mod is released and checking the readme for proper credits if indeed your tutorial was used for adding the capital ship encounters before dropping the sarcasm in. These people have always given credit where it was due.
