Heya Reynen and crew!

I'm real happy with your mod, and I have something for you that may help. I noticed the violent shaking of the battleships when "going to" or "docking" with anything, so I decided to play around. What I found was by increasing the nudge_force, the shaking stops. I changed it from 3,000,000 to 300,000,000. The downside is that the ship tends to not want to stop turning as easily. Still I figured I'd pass this along in case you didn't know.

Also, if I equip any gunboats with gunboat turrets, they crash Freelancer. They can use the beam turrets, just not the regular ones.

So far, I find the cruisers to be the most fun for cap ship jockeys, since they're just maneuverable enough to go through most asteroid fields, with manual flight control. Do you think there is any way to decrease the force of asteroids hitting the larger ships?

Firstly I apologise if this has already been answered but I cant find it.

When playing Reynen's Mod I notice that i does not seem to work correctly.

What I have done:

1) Install Freelancer - UK version
2) Install FLMM
3) Install MOD
4) Start FLServer
5) Start and Play game

The problems that I have noticed are
1) I start with 2000 credits, not 20,000 as stated in the readme
2) I cannot buy the new ships. The screen breifly pops up and then disappears

I have checked that my data and exe folders are NOT read-only but other than this cannot work out whats wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you activated the mod in FLMM ??

Yes I have activated the MOD before I launcher FLServer or Freelancer by opening it using FLMM and then clicking "activate MOD"

iMAC on Pg 14 of this article had a similar problem at Newark Station whre the dealer started to pop up and then dissappeared. I am having the problem at Baltimore shipyard when trying to buy a BS as well as at the neighboring station Fort Bush (I think). I have not yet checked any other stations but intend to ASAP

Are you sure you downloaded it from the link at the top of this forum? There's some unoficial versions floating around out there...
AND make sure you checked the freelancer directory after you installed the mod.

This si for Bob,Reynen one of the tow can you point me in the right direction for making skins?...i got the UTF editor but im kinda lost all i want to do is try my hand at it.

Apparently, the textures are in DDS format. I don't know how to open those. I saw it somewhere on the forums, but I can't remember where. The tree structure is like this:

Texture Library
/_ texture_name.tga
/_ MIPS

and MIPS is what you want to export. In other files with textures the MIPS are broken down into MIP0 MIP1 MIP2 etc. but the ship skins are layerd in the DDS format. I know the middle D is for 3D but I can't remeber what the others are!

UPDATE:
Apparently, they are Photoshop Compressed Format DDS files. I can't open them in photoshop elements but anyone here who has photshop might be able to, if I'm right...

Hmm sounds like you did everything right. It might be the UK version of freelancer that is making it incompatible.

Other then that I am unsure. Best thing is to go through the troubleshooting in the readme and keep us informed of what your progress is.

One way to check to see if your files have been overwritten is to look in the FL data directories and see if you see a .flback file. FLMM makes backups of the files it overwrites. If you don't see the backup files then the files are not being overwritten.

I wish I could. I don't know how to skin ships nor know what to you use for it. I have heard of people using 3d studio max, photoshop, and other stuff like that.

Note to spawn:

I had to seriously resize the pic for the 1028x960 version, so it looks a little grainy. Not too bad, but if ya want to send me a version closet to 1028x960 that'd be great.

Also:
I'm soooooo confused.....
I can't figure out where the nomad gunship gets it stuff from. There's no .cmp file for it, but I did look in the .3db, and there's no loadout for it?! How's it get a powerplant or engine? HHHEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Bob, ill will get you that as soon as i get some time. Also, im gonna start rying to skin a few ships, starting with the Eagle (for as bad ass of a ship it is it looks too plain.) If i can get these up to par with the qulaity of DA, ill post a few pics.

ugh, just to let you all know

currenltly i've not been able to play rey's mod online as of late. It's not due to a bug or anything but my stupid network card went belly up and i have to buy a new one sometime later. Also i have a cold, so until then, i'm writing this from my old G4 mac "best ever " to let you know my situation.

I was thinking of changing the music at the main menu, but the silly game devs used the kusari space music! so ya can't change it without changing the background music of all kusari space. I even checked the music.ini for a double reference of it, but there isn't as far as I can tell. the only other thing is, where the heck are te main menu universes referenced?! I can't find it anywhere.........
