Browclops server shutting down August 1

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Yah me too, I think, I was playing on Argonia-Station today, and the lag was just nuts.
I know they seem to be good people on Argonia but if lag is so bad you can't move what's the point.
Maybe we can alternate between Argonia-Station and Alpha Server 24/7..

Why go between the two servers?

Alpha I have been testing for the last few hours. Largest number of players I saw online so far at one time was 11.

Tested out PvP dueling with FooGoo. Played just like a Browclops duel. Granted, we only had 11 people in there when we did.

So far I'm really liking this server. I have been scouting servers for the last few days, this is the best one I've found so far. The low popluation is something that many have over looked and call it a bad thing... in fact its quite good. More room for the Browclops players. And when browclops players make a move to the server (if they do) it will bring in more players whom are looking for a populated server. Its basically a domino effect till we rebuild a browclops like "culture" in whatever server is generally agreed upon.

Is there going to be any huge event on the last day of Browclops? Close the doors with a bang or something.

Heheh, a 24-hour battle frenzy or something. Maybe every person gets a bounty of 1, and when you kill someone, your victim's bounty is added to your own and your victim's is reset. It might be hard to keep track of, but if everyone keeps track of their own and when they kill someone, the person they kill is honest, then it should work.

Keep up the server-searching, I unfortunately don't know any good ones. I checked Weskel, and it seemed fine, but there were only 6 others.

The server will be up for the 24 hour period that comprises August 1, 2003. Unfortunately I will be out of town on business for a week starting the 28th, but anyone is more than welcome to host something. I will be remote-ing into the server (normal procedure as this is how I normally control it) on my usual schedule (love that PCS wireless card!) so it will stay up until the last minute.

Alpha Server 24/7 is my choice as well, play is smooth, pvp = no lag, no issues at all to put against it for me....

If you have not tested this server out yet, i suggest ya do.

Just great, i can't even connect to Alpha 24-7 the pings are shown and it shows how many people are playing - Pings = 125 - But i can't connect. Always times out - get the message saying "The request is taking longer than expected" BLAH!

So far, Alpha Server 24/7 seems great - no lag, and server never crashed in the 3 days I've been playing on it. Give it a try, I think that's where I'll be playing for now. If you need any money to get started, let me know and I'll hook you up, I already got my eagle decked out.

My only concern is cheaters - how will they be controlled? Nobody knows who the admin is or if he enforces the server rules. If anyone finds out who the admin is, please post it here.

Well, for the next few weeks while everything settles down, I'm going to be playing on a rebalance mod server. Getting a little tired of the unchanged ships/weapons/universe, and I like the idea of having a battleship, or seeing two white-stars duel it out, also like the fact that torps and things have a very large impact radius, so you can't be too close to your target when it goes off, or else you could be destroyed too. I'll re-install FL when/if I go back to a normal server. (Will all depend on how stable the rebalance servers are).

Twex - let me know where - I might just join you...the idea of a battleship or a cruiser piques my interest....

today i was playing on alpha 24/7, and saw some guy named MisO was cheating, had some mod that puts floating alien organisms regenerating outside Willard research. im also often noticing npcs fly across the screen much faster than cruise speed.

Post Tue Jul 22, 2003 7:11 am

Some how it just figures that the damn modders would show to screw things up, noticed some heavy lag today right before what appeared to be a server crash.
I still haven't found the admin.

Someone tell me why i freakin can't connect to alpha 24/7!@@@

Post Tue Jul 22, 2003 5:27 pm

Justinian, I go here:
http://www.flserver.com/topservers.htm
And search for 'Rebalance', then see if any of the servers are going to be any good for me. The 'Rebalance' one had 6 on it last night, not much action, but still fun none the less.

i'd like to get in on the barclops community if everyone is ok with that - it sounds like a lot of fun, and if we can find another server i'd love to play with u guys. it sounds like the main things u are looking for are servers with 2 things:

1) good "fun" host; a person u can talk to that plays a lot, and does stuff with his server instead of just letting it run and restarting it once in a while
2) a GOOD ping rate.

everything else falls under the "good fun host" area - pk'ing in liberty or ny at least, holding duels, and playing "rabbit" games, thats all stuff that the host will arrange for himself.

it also sounds like the alpha 24/7 server and the argonian station. now a lot of ppl have trouble connecting/staying connected with argonian station, so it might be good to rule it out. alpha sounds like theres a little trouble, but beggars cant be choosers. i would suggest that everyone starts looking for servers with good pings, then tries to contact the host and see if he is interested in hosting AND PARTICIPATING IN this kind of a community.

also someone should find an excuse to make a new thread, this one is 3 pages long and a lot of it is "sry to hear ur shutting ur server down barclow" and other random chatting .

Hey, what about Seattle Based 24/7, anyone try that server? I get great ping times and the admin is well known and keeps his server clean. I'm going to try it out tonight and see if it's any good. . .
