You are a Freelancer, you don't JOIN factions. You work for them.
By working for them their opinion of you goes up which allows you to get various benefits from them (some products are only sold to people with high enough faction).
Thus, creating new factions has nothing to do with being able to JOIN them.

creating new faction would be great to sell new items only with them
another thing maybe its possible to make it harder to get good reputation because now it rather simple to do it mabe if you make that harder (especially for he new facts) the game becomes more exiting and harder (not to mension longer)

Ok, that works...just add a new faction at the bottom of the list..for the example, I created fl_n_grp (for Freelancer, neutral)

don't forget to add the rep of the faction to itself...otherwise, bad things might happen
then add

to every faction already in...it then creates a new faction
Obviously, you can make the rep for the different factions whatever you want, as long as you reciprocate the rep to that faction.. i.e. if you put:
rep = .23, gd_bh_grp
then you would need to go to the gd_bh_grp faction list and put
rep = .23, fl_n_grp
The only thing I haven't figured out is creating a new ids info and name to add a name and description for the new faction(s)...but that involves .dll editing and I can't do that yet...

First off it probably best to make 1 to 2 new systems that are controled by this new faction then you need to make npc chars in that systems and in the systems surrounding it so that that faction acctully does something it not hard to say that base or ship belongs to that faction but making also do things is kinda hard and much work and to be honest i dont feel like learning all that at this point i already had a hard time understaning making a entire new system and i still aint done yet.
i am able to add pretty much extras to the game but it is VERY time consuming and since i cant program i am hoping (like many other i think) on a good mod tool that is going to make it easier.

OK, the co_ are corporations, the fc_ are criminals. The navy/police forces are easy to figure out, as are the gd_ ones. The criminals I'm also sure of, as the names mostly match with the abbreviations. The 8 Unknown groups do not appear on the faction list ingame, leading me to belive that they are related to the SP storyline. The co_ ones I'm not exactly sure of though. A lot of the companies don't have a matching abbreviation at all, so I had to go off of which faction was friendly/hostile toward which other faction. But hey, if you're making a custom faction, you should be able to get some ideas of who to make friendly/hostile from this. Maybe someone will test these eventually to see if they all match up right.

hmmmm, when i run the server with a new faction added, i try to leave manhattan and it crashes..... did you get the same problem? if so how did u fix it? :/
