** PROJECT ** Creating New Factions

Creating one's own unique factions would be a really interesting way to spice up one's FL world.

One could even create entire factions for "clans" that play on one's server.

Also, I admit that I LOVE the faction system. I have spent tons of times poring through the strategy guide planning out which factions I am going to support or work against while playing MP. I would love to create some of my own that could ally with the ones I like and work against the ones I dislike (from an RP/IC perspective).

Further, creation more factions could really result in some amazing situations if we are also able to figure out how to create random events that trigger huge scale invasions.

Thanks Alpha. It seems like everyone is pretty happy about the thread structure.

Things are really picking up around here. It seems like together we are unlocking TONS of secrets each day. I think the more organized we are the more efficiently we will be able to share information with each other.

Creating a new faction could go along with the create a new system project.

The one base in that project could be of this "faction"- perhaps a faction called Travellers or something to sortof justify the fact that their system had such incredibly convenient jump holes. Heh.

hey thresh did you already something of EVE the secon genesis?? EVE-Online

its a mmporg and i think you oculd have fun with it. but its still beta.

yeah new factions are great

but why not make a freelancing faction

neutral people who will do anything at the right cost

if you disliked by military you have to pay much

if youre disliked with pirates you pay less

like mercenary fighters, freighters, escorts

you can see them as a faction but they will never drop below zero and never go up in your rep but if you attack there bases or guards they will always attack you (not all neutral bases offcourse only the ones you piss off)

DAWN: Yeah. In fact, I signed up for the beta of EVE a few days ago. It looks great. I was a beta tester for Earth and Beyond but good lord, what a beautiful disappointment it was.

shadow: Great ideas. A faction totally devoted to taking money to improve people's reps would be interesting actually. Heh.

Has anyone worked on this yet?

hmm.. taking money to improve a rep.. Sounds like a credit card counciling outfit to me..

True, but it could be a really interesting faction concept- especially if they charged REALLY high prices.

One of the most potentially interesting uses of the ability to create factions is, imho, the ability to give clans a feeling of "owning" something in space.

This is a big server admin intensive, but the operator of a server could say something like this:

For 10,000,000 credits, you get a single base in a sector devoted to clan bases. Your base has ships alligned to your clan surrounding them.

While there is not currently any ability to "conquer", it could be a matter of pride for clans to defend their bases and the ships alligned to them.

Perhaps for 100,000,000 credits, the server admin could drop in a system for a clan, with a jumphole to any one of the 4 major house capital planets.

Oh, belive me, Im game.. Ill test and update as much as I can - I took this week off since my kids are on spring break -( good thing they are going outta town - so, Im "batchin it" this week.. )

Wife will come home with the kids in 5 days and find me in the office, in my undershorts, coffee cups and full ashtrays all over the place, with me sitting there playing/modding Freelancer! hahaha..

LOL Beltic! That's the spirit. I have a 9 month old daughter and she ain't going on spring break anytime soon. Hehehe. I also own a small gaming company (we make online, RP required RPGs). Between those two things, it is hard to find time to game or mod. But so far, I'm managing to squeeze it all in!

Man, I dont even have kids and I seem to have less time than you guys. :-(

A freelancer faction would be cool, it seems everyone else has a faction but freelancers. Now I have explored most places and got my Titan its time to start changing the server to confuse my players.
Gonna work on a new system for them to explore, maybe a real hard sector with big rewards...
Time to get them lane hacked by a wing of 10 Titans ;-)

wow many adults here (thats good!)

iam (only) 16 years old.

got hours off time everyday schools easy but there alot off people modding and for me to start now is jsut well lets say i'll leave up to the pro's.

ohh yeah i think you got it wrong paying to increase a faction rep exist already what i ment was a faction of neutral freelancers like trnet who you can hire to protect serve or deliver for you...

ive looked into it, i cant seem to find anything much relating to factions (cept that in the newcharacter)

ive either looked over something or its hardcoded :/

ill keep looking anway, has any1 else has any luck?
