think about that for a second... the 2 creators spawn totally diferent ships with totally diferent designs...much like liberty vs rheinland vs kusari vs bretonia...all diferent designs. Creating 2 diferent sides one with each ship type would be interesting as long as both were balanced in some form or another.

A full scale war between 2 sides featuring from the smallest scout to the largest space station or battlecruiser. I would totally dig that.

Smaller ships would be weaker but nimble while heavier ships would be sluggish but would pack bigger and better guns. Join them all in fleets in one or more new systems...add objectives or not, some sort of battle timer, point counter and either limited battle time or limited respawns and blamo... you got team deathmatch for freelancer with a tad of starwars like space battles.

would be fun.

Sounds like a good idea. How about it Leonhart? After Glocks mod is complete, i can help you with it. It would be interesting to see your ships going full out against mine. I've got a limited number of ship types though.

Anytime. One thing though, we'll have to agree on the weapon and ship stats. For instance, who has stronger hulled ships and whose got the more powerful weapons and things like that. Do you want the exotic weapons like homing lasers which i know how to make or do you prefer raw power? Are your ships more maneuverable or mine although yours looks much more agile than mine.

From the design looks, i'd say your ships would have the exotic weapons, be more agile but less tough while mine would be slower but pack bigger guns. What do you think? If you like this, you can email me the specifics and we'll hammer something out.

Leonhart, i hope you don't mind but i feel we'll need Giskards help with the system design. That way, we can concentrate on ships and Giskard can make the encounters much more interesting with capital ship encounters from both of out sides. I'd like for this mod to start of confined to one system first though. After its successful, we can move on to making new systems to place each side in with raids from the other side.

I dont mind at all...how does this sound, you work on ships (uvw mapping), I do the equipment part (weps, shields, custom FX and all other things that have to do with equipment)

No problem. I can do it, however, i hope you don't mind if i continue to make my own custom weapon models. I suppose we can make a couple of surprise weapons to keep secret until the mod is compiled. Naturally we'll have to agree not to exceed a certain damage or refire rate. Maybe we can come up with a formula to use to calculate the maximum.

I can provide you an Excel table for that... I was working on a rebalance mod between the 4 houses. Like giving the Kusari the weakest armor but faster and more agile ships, Rheinland, more armor and firepower but slower ships.

If i get the into-game convertion worked out, and you like a 3rd faction around, I could work on it... maybe not an army but like mercs that could be hired from either side. I think my R-Type ships would do wonders there. But that's up for the both of you to decide.

Anyway...If you are interested in that excel table just lemme know. It will easily calculate everything and you'll just have to fiddle with the base values and all ships willbe ajusted.

That excel table of yours sounds handy for ship designs and their weapons. Can you email it to me? It'll be a good test for the upcoming torpedo destroyer. Haven't thought of a good name for it yet though.
