Ahhh WC3 memories

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Ahhh WC3 memories

Found this on YouTube and thought you all may get a laugh. Though back when I played it I always hooked up with Flint, kinda bored with Rachael having seen her in some other...errr...movies.

Ah yes, Taw's little "Greasemonkey". I remember Taw enlightening me about her... less than stellar past some time ago. Needless to say, I didn't believe the Dirty Old Man until I checked Wikipedia, and it completely changed the way I looked at WC3 and WCP .

Those clips bring back good memeories. I miss that game and the actors they used. For some reason, I liked Hobbes as a wingman. *Goes on nastalga trip*

I'm vice admiral, which is quite an achivement, as on most forums i get bored after a couple of weeks, something however keeps me coming back here, long after i've gotten bored of freelancer.

happy happy days, WC3 how we used to run to the shops as soon as the latest instalment was released. Good times.

that the Rabbit didn't know about Ginger Lynn Allen's previous "acting" career just shows how little real world news permeates into the Burrow! See how he relies on the Tawakalnistan News Agency to find out what's really going on.

I got bored very rapidly with the romance aspect of WC3 and decided to blow both Flint and Rachel out, and finished the game "single" as it were. I was far more concerned with those blasted Skipper missiles and killing Hobbes and Prince Thrakhath. Eventually when I'd played it through several times I went down the Flint then Rachel route, alwasy seemed to me that Blair was supposed to get together with Rachel Coriolis, as was confirmed by the WC fiction in WC4. Would have been interesting to see how they got on meeting up again in Prophecy, but then Blair wasn't the main point of interest in Prophecy in the form it was released, although I'm told that the FMV was very heavily edited and much of the story and character development got left on the cutting room floor. Shame.

Anyone got any info on how the FS2 mod WC:Saga? I saw some good trailers and cutscenes for it a couple of years ago, but haven't heard a jot since.

No, I haven't heard anything about the mod for a while. I assume that it is still going ahead, but only the prologue is available and it has been for some time. As for my lack of knowledge about certain areas, well, some of us simply aren't as sleazy as others. *Mutters under breath* Dirty Old Man!

There's a bit of stuff floating around on http://www.wcnews.com about WC: Saga, actually that's where I found the youTube vid. At last news posting they 've recreated the first 4 or so WC4 missions in it.

I'm told that the FMV was very heavily edited and much of the story and character development got left on the cutting room floor. Shame.

Indeed, I know a lot of people didn't dig it but I fookin loved WC4's interactive movie design and intensive FMV sequences. I know the actual gameplay itself was a little lacking, but it never really bothered me, it was all about the narrative for me......good times...good times indeed.

I'd have whupped your @ss back then. Back in the old days I was a demon pilot esp if I had a Stormfire loaded up as well as Pilum FFs. I liked the Thunderbolt because it was big and heavy and had a huge loadout and took loads of hits, which was useful when fighting cats (hence why Hobbes used one) It wasn't up to scratch against Black Lance or Nephilim though.

Vaktoths - toughest thing I ever fought in WC.

Meh, I always liked the Hellcat, simple and dependable. I hated the Thunderbolt, it was like a flying target and couldn't turn a damn. The Dragon and Excalibur were unstoppable and hence boring, but I could've and still would trash anything yer flying six ways from sunday and I would'nt even need missiles, which are a waste of perfectly good gun mounts IMO.

The "Arrow" and "Bearcat" weren't bad ships, but they required the player to fly evasively, and not simply fly in a straight line, absorb hits and shoot enemy ships at point-blank range (the Old Man's favourite strategy). Come to think of it, such an obvious and brute-force approach accurately describes Taw's behaviour and strategy most of the time...

up close and personal, Wabbit, like the Kilrathi; ship-bashing needs a strong hull.

The Thunderbolt is perfect for Taw's languishing reflexes. Flying anything with less than tank-like armour would render him helpless against a wing from the Cult of Sivar. Me though, well let's just say that killboard would have Mustang right on top, Esquilax probably somewhere on the middle and Taws name somewhere down the bottom with a KIA next to it.

you wouldn't have been saying that a decade and a half ago when I was in me prime! An evening's modem gaming on Armada, you'd have been my bi4tch in no time; these days however I can't even get the ship out of the hangar and can't find any pf the controls.

(17 years since we started playing WC - my, how time flies, and I still have the 3.5" 1.44mb floppies that it came on!)

which got me to sorting out my WC collection:-

WC + SM + SM2:Crusade
WC2 +SO1 + SO2
WC3
WC4
WC-P
WC-SO
WC-Privateer + Righteous Fire
WC-Armada + Proving Grounds
Privateer 2
Kilrathi Saga (never even took it out of its box)

and they're all still in their original boxes with all the posters and calendars and manuals!
