The Story begins -

The air was cool and brisk as Joe walked his rounds at the light house. He enjoyed the early morning hours the most. The sea was calm most of the morning and he could almost hear the silence. He had arrived two weeks ago for the new posting, and was just getting the hang of things. He was alone on this Tour of duty, but he had requested this one when there was an opening. It so happened that there was an incident that created this opening sooner than he had planed. His girlfriend Carly, was the only one that was not happy with the arrangements. She would be limited in visiting him to supply drops for the time being. The view Joe had at the moment extended up and down the new England coast. The sea coast birds began their morning calls startling Joe a bit. This was part to get use to.

Joe had his personal items here as well. Several mystery novels to keep him going on slow days, and a computer to communicate with the outside world. He had the top of the line satellite hook up for transmission. It was like a paradise for him with one exception, Carly. He missed her something awful. He decided to send her some flowers and a card. Setting down at his desk, he brought up the Internet and then found the florist he needed. He ordered a dozen roses and a card with a message from his heart. He paid for it by entering his credit card info and logged off. He slid the chair back and rose at the sound of the wind picking up. A breeze would feel good. The walk back to the top was the exercise he needed. The view, was spectacular. A small sailing craft moved slowly on the horizon, it looked like a small six man craft. Not much else due near till this evening. There was a cargo and a trawler that came by weekly.
