Something weirds

ok i just got the Bret BS ingame ... but now i am with the prob:
i see the ship on the dealer
the price is below 10m
i click on the ship and FL crashes ...

Does it have a whole bunch of weps attached? You might want to check goods.ini, that is where the problems usually are. As Chips says, get rid of everything but teh basic equipment, i.e. scanner, tractor, power, engine, etc

I had this problem once, it was the weps

EDIT: Do you still want me to code those ships for you?

Check for spelling mistakes too...i made a huge mistake with the Scimitar with spellings and i was really quite embarrased.

Also,see if u can get FLScan to find anything

That's probably 'cause they don't have surs. I use FLModeltool for that. just copy an existing sur of a similar shape, open it and the cmp of your model in FLModeltool, and click "Resize" under the sur tab. Save under the same name as the cmp, and your done!

about your equip: Do you have an engine, powerplant, tractor, and scanner? those are needed.

About the *gasp* cloaking. Don't talk too much about it cause it will:
1. start a flame war about how good or bad it is to ban it.
2. get the thread locked
Anyway, I would want a copy, 'cause my romulan and klingon ships aren't happy without them. (you don't want klingons mad lol )

I'm guessing it's ur C.D that's doing this.
I can't believe someone is making one for a mod.
I can sence some very unhappy people if u release ur mod with a cloak...namely server ops and server police all over the place

Well, what I usually do is run a lan server, and when the game crashes look to the console, it usually tells you whats wrong or gives you pointers...

I do hope that this does not become a war about cloaking...

perhaps make it not available when you release the mod, so we don't destroy the integrity of TLR.

no offense Xeno,
But in my opinion the cloak should be scrapped by locutus now.advertising that he has a working one is asking for this to be flamed
I'm not flaming him,but as a admin-if he releases this mod,the cheaters and modders for their own benefit (aka cheaters again) will modify it for their own use and we'll get people comming on with cloaks on servers and creating havok and damaging multiplayer again.

Cloaks are a terrible idea...FULL STOP

Yeah phoenix, I guess you're right...cloaks are BAD. I think it is really sad that you can't trust anyone not to turn a cool feature into an uber-cheat...

do either of you know how to make mat's? I read some stuff but I didn't understand any of it. I am working on coding some ships, but they don't have mats, just a whole bunch of textures in milkshape.

BTW: Thanks for the ships, this should keep me busy for a while.

EDIT: Having probs with the textures (d'led the mat exporter, but I cant seem to get it to work properly). The exporting cmp, adding sur, and putting Hp's is okay , but I can't get it textured.

Ok folks, the (C) word is forbiden turf. Please move on back to the topic. For edification, if there was one created in a mod, it will NOT be posted on TLR, as it is a distructive devise. Loc, please reconsider and let the item remain dead.

@Locutus/Phoenix: I got the textures working, but I had to convert all *cough* 54 of them to .tga's using Photoshop. I only finished one ship in an hour. The next few should be better though; I've got my plan set now.

Locutus: I'll email you when I've finished the ships.

EDIT: Having trouble texturing the Regal. The Enterprise B is in game, but some of its textures are off.(not as much though). and when you bump into something you get tossed halfway across the system...(I got flung 120m away from manhattan by hitting a ship at cruise speed ) I seem to be cursed when it comes to texturing. I can code, ad HP's, export cmp's, resize surs, but no, when it comes to textures, I am cursed.

EDIT: And, I can't open any of the Miranda class vessels. I think they have too many polys for MS3D to handle...

@ Xeno & Locutus, poly count is critical in Freelancer, to many and you loose frames (fps) and servers suffer serious LAG. Try and keep ships to less than 10,000 polys for player only ships and 5,000 for NPC flown ships.

Most of the STAR TREK models you find on other sites are done for rendering purposes (pictures) or CGI animations and are highly detailed. This makes them useless for games without major reworking of the mesh.
