To my valued readers:

I must apologize for what I am about to do. This fan fiction has unfortunately been put on hold indefinitely, as I haven't been able to find the time to update, and quite frankly, I'm afraid I've lost the motivation to continue.

That's not to say it wlll never be completed, but it'll probably be a while before I return to it, or any fan fiction writing for that matter. Maybe it's writer's block.

I hope you will forgive me for letting this one go. Thanks for all the support and helpful comments you've given on my writing.

Come on neuromancer one of the worst thing in exsistance is a unfinished piece of work, it's infuriating.

Amazingly enough, I have managed to crank out an update to this story. It's short, but at least it's an update.

Enjoy!

Chapter 5

King had never been to New Berlin, but he knew the minute he stepped out of the cockpit that he wouldn't like it. The frigid air bit into his lungs and chilled him to the bone. He looked around for von Claussen, who had just disembarked from his own ship. von Claussen motioned for King to follow him, and he led King to a bar not far from the landing pad.

The bar was filled to capacity, with noisy patrons chatting away and techno-ish music blaring throughout the premesis. King winced, as he preferred to drink in relative quiet, but he was anxious to try some of the reknowned Rheinland liquors he had heard so much about.

"King, this way please," von Claussen said as he walked to a remote corner of the bar. King followed reluctantly as von Claussen led him to a small booth in the corner, where two men sat.

"Ahh, Herr von Claussen," one of the men said, standing and shaking hands with von Claussen. "It is good to see you again."

"And you, my friend. Allow me to introduce Commander King."

"Welcome, Commander. Please, sit," the man said, motioning to two empty chairs. "My name is Jonner, and this is Blix."

King said nothing as he sat down, but his attention was focused on a strange crystal sitting in front of Blix. It glowed a soft purple color, casting faint shadows around the booth.

"Is that what I think it is?" he asked softly.

"And what do you think it is?" von Claussen asked.

"Well, I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, but it looks like a Dom'Kavash crystal to me."

"An excellent deduction, Commander," Jonner said. "However, we are not certain that it is actually a Dom'Kavash artifact. Mr. Blix here seems to be able to use it to see, shall we say, beyond the physical world. It was a discovery he made that prompted us to contact von Claussen."

"Discovery?"

"Several days ago Mr. Blix received a disturbing revelation while using this...artifact," Jonner continued. "He heard a voice, which clearly said that Orillion must be found. The voice he heard was one familiar to us, and to you."

"Whose voice?"

"Edison Trent."

King's jaw dropped. "But that's impossibe! Trent is dead!"

"Calm yourself, Commander," von Claussen said. "There is more to this story. Shortly after Jonner informed me of this I was contacted by Lord Hakkera. He is currently in hiding on Kyoto Base with the Blood Dragons. Your friend Jun'ko Zane is there as well."

"What is Juni doing..."

"Please let me finish. Ms. Zane apparently had a disturbing vision or dream in which a shadowy figure told her the same thing the voice told Mr. Blix. Once Hakkera had given me this information, I began to suspect a link that could not be mere coincidence."

"So...what you're saying is that Trent really isn't dead?" asked King incredulously.

"I don't have any answers, Commander. I do find this chain of events curious, however. Two separate cases of people receiving a similar message to find Orillion? Surely you do not think this is nothing but chance?"

"I'm not sure what to believe, since I've been here for ten minutes and I've seen more drugs in here than I've seen in all my time in the LSF. Are you sure you're not taking hits off the ol' cardamine pipe?"

"Commander King, while your tact leaves much to be desired, I can assure you that we are as clean and sober as can be," von Claussen said with a touch of anger. "These incidents must be investigated, and it is vital that we discover the cause of this mystery. I can understand your disbelief, but I ask you to please put it aside, at least for the moment, whie we try to unravel this puzzle."

King was silent for a moment as he processed all this in his mind. Was it possible that Trent was really still alive, and trying to contact them? King was not one to believe in the mystical or supernatural, but at last his sense of adventure won out over his skepticism.

"All right," he conceded, "so what do we do?"

"You and I will go to Kyoto and meet Hakkera and Ms. Zane," von Claussen replied. "After that, our road is as yet uncharted."

Han shot first. Never forget that.

Excellent plot twist. I was afraid for a moment that Trent would come back from the dead and say of of those wonderful lines... "I'm not ready for this one!"

Happyness.

I dont know what it is about a Neuro-post that makes my day. Even if it's a month old and I'm only now discovering it while I wait for RvB to load.

How do you tell if you're talking to a War Hammer 40Ker? Look at his hands, is there several shades of red paint under his fingernails? Are two or more fingers glued together? Does he have cuts on his fingertips where the X-Acto knife slipped? If you answered yes to two or more questions, drop the word "Tau" in a sentence, if he gets mad and leaves, then he's a gamer.

Hi folks,

Sorry I've been gone so long, I needed a nice looooooong sabbatical, and I can honestly say it worked wonders.

Anyway, now that I'm back, I hope to be updating this story more regularly.

By gum, it's good to be back!

3 Cheers for Neuro, one of the 5 greatest writers of all time! Ok, maybe only on this site, but really, who cares about "Shakespear" or "Chaucer" or any of those loosers.
