I finished that update on the calculator. It should be in your e-mail box. I have to give you credit, without the calculator this RPG would be nearly impossible.

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 1:48 pm

Who did you mail the calculator to? I don't have it.

8 Bases it will be.
I will change the rules later on.

I don't know. I think something is wrong with my e-mail. I'll try to resend it as soon as I get thing straightened out.

Got it. I won't spend too much time with it though; I just got my new computer. Woohoo!

Because I have nothing better to do, I've decided to divide the remaining factions as best I can among the classes. One of the problems with this is that many factions could go either way, particularily among the criminals. What I put down here is essentially my stab at how the majority of the Sirius Sector views these groups.

Outcasts= Pirates. Even though they smuggle cardamine, jacob specifically said only Junkers and Hogosha are smugglers. (i'll grant u zoners though)

Just a suggestion, if not for this RPG then the next one. There should also be an option that allows you to "scrap" existing bases and ships, destroying them and giving you back a certain percentage of the resources and credits used to build them.

Post Thu Nov 04, 2004 1:17 pm

The thing is, smuggling cardamine is the center of Outcast society. The game hammers in the dividing line between Outcasts and Corsairs pretty clearly: Outcasts are smugglers, Corsairs are pirates (though the former does some piracy and the latter some smuggling)

I can't think of the Outcasts as being anything but, well, drug-runners. It's kind of hard to imagine them in the same light as pirates.

I took the faction types mostly from VD's post in the "Where to go next" thread.
Here's what he said regarding the Outcasts and Corsairs:

Since the outcasts and the corsairs have the potential to fit into several different groups they should have the option at the beginning of the Rpg whether they want to join forces and work as a House millitary or go their seperate ways and be pirates ( there actually would be advantages to the latter choice such as more powerful fighters rather than devoting resources to capital ships.)

I think that sort of idea is the best. But, since no one is currently either, it doesn't really apply that much until someone signs up to be one. When someone joins as one, we should give them that option.

The corsairs are smugglers too. They're the artifact dealers.

A little note to the controllers of the thread. The bounty hunters have their own VHF too, ya know, as well as liberty (Their liberator, but it's still in prototype stages.) so, need to add those two notes in.

No Liberty VHF!
It's not a ship used in the game!
The BHG does have a "VHF", true, though I wouldn't really call it that.
Rich, your ships are now officially the same as Liberty as far as stats.

I think I know what richardson meant about liberty. In some modded servers you can fly that souped up version of the defender that Juni flies (the one that has a vertical tail fin in place of the nomal flat top). Its not actually a VHF though and you can't get it in the normal game anyway.

BTW, if you can't manage to get someone to take the more important factions (like the outcasts) mabey you could post some kind of bulletin on the reactor homepage.

Actually, in the Evolution and WTS mods, it's called the Liberator, and it is a VHF, about the same as the BHG VHF.

Also, a slight rule change suggestion. make the fighters capible of carrying .3 cargo or something like that. Since, the fighers can carry cargo in the game, abeit very badly, it makes sense to bring that here. Not capible of carrying much, less than half of that of even the freighters, but it makes sense to do so.
