Of the five choices, corporation would be the one, IMO.

Post Tue Nov 02, 2004 8:38 pm

Before I start, an important notice: The equation that works out the (monetary) cost of Capital Shipyards is wrong. Currently it reads =100*B67 when it should read =200*B67 instead. Please change it, or download the new copy here.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way...

First come the Systems, Bases and my military…
New London: Battleship Suffolk – 1 Battleship – 10 HF, Planet New London – 20 LF
Cambridge: Battleship Norfolk – 1 Battleship – 10 HF, Planet Cambridge – 20 LF
Dublin: Battleship Essex – 1 Battleship - 10 HF
Edinburgh: Aberdeen Border Station – Large Station* – 10 LF
Leeds: Battleship York – 1 Battleship – 10 HF, Durham Border Station – Large Station* – 10 LF, Planet Leeds – 20 LF
Manchester: BPA Newgate – Large Station* – 10 LF, Kingstone Border Station – Small Station* – 5 LF, Liverpool Border Station – Small Station* – 5 LF
Totals: 3 Planets, 4 Battleships, 3 Large Stations*, 2 Small Stations*, 40 HF, 100 LF
*I actually have no idea what each of these stations should be considered so I just gave it my best guess.

Ummm...moving units. Hmmmm. I'll take 10 LFs from Leeds and send them over to Dublin.

Unfortunately I seem to be lacking shipyards. I guess I just have to build/buy some. Heh. Perfect segue into money and commodities...
Money:
Starting Cash: 300 Credits
Cash from Small Stations: 2X5 = 10 Credits (per turn)
Cash from Large Stations: 3X10 = 30 Credits (per turn)
Cash from Planets: 3X10 = 30 Credits (per turn)
Cash from being a House (Taxes, anyone?): 50 credits (per turn)
Total Cash: 420 Credits

Commodities: (all per turn)
Food: 3+4+2+10 = 19
H-Fuel: 14+6 = 20
Metals: 4+12+12+4 = 32
Oxygen: 9+7 = 16
Water: 15+4+5 = 24

As I said before, I need shipyards so... I'll buy a Fighter Shipyard and a Capital Shipyard. I'll also buy a Large Station. My entire starting bonus gone (and then some). *sniff*
At the end of the turn I will have 20 Credits. Wow, I'm poor.

That should cover all of the math-y bits. Now, to the fun stuff!

I’ll start out with a general announcement...

Bretonia has long been a nation desirous of peace. Unfortunately, organized crime and piracy are on the rise. Every house has at least one unique criminal group that is a constant thorn in their side. Additionally, we all have to deal with the increasingly violent depredations of both the Corsairs and the Outcasts. In the interests of peace and prosperity I would ask that all houses put aside their petty differences and unite against these common foes. We must not wait for them to grow stronger. Until they have been crushed, the colonies will not know true prosperity.

And now, on to some specifics...

Bretonia has long been plagued by chronic H-Fuel shortages. The Bretonian government has therefore decided to enter into an agreement with Rhienland. We are willing to trade 10 Metals for 10 H-Fuel or 5 H-Fuel and 10 Credits per turn. Additionally the Bretonian government would like to announce that it plans to expand into the Tau-31 System. The H-Fuel, Water and Oxygen found therein will undoubtedly prove useful. Additionally this expansion will serve to further restrict the movements of various criminal organizations. Any factions wishing to aid us in this endeavor should make their intentions known. The Bretonian government will reward any actions we deem helpful.

That should cover everything.

Edit: Fixed the link, not that it really matters.
And Wilde, you're welcome.

Unoneers news network ( UNN )
Leader's speech:
My fellow Unioneers, we have been dismissed by Republican Shipping for no apparent or appropiate reason. Republican Shipping shall be taught a lesson they shall never forget. We, on this day, sewar to make Republican suffer every single humiliation that we can inflict on them. Unfortunately, our supplies are limited. While we humiliate Republican, we shall take their goods from them via destroying their convoys. We must also be on guard against the Xenos who also pose a threat to us as they have a hidden base in the same system as our hidden base. Let us work together and teach Republican a good lesson!

Unioneers action:

First, OOC calculations: I managed to fix a bug in the calculator, and there was much rejoicing.

The bug I'm referring to has to do with corporation bonuses. To fix it, go to the "cost" squares for freighters and such, chance B13 to C13, and enclose everything after the asterisks in brackets.

Now onto the first turn.

Message to the King of Bretonia

We have heard that Bretonia has been experiencing shortages of H-fuel. The IMG has H-fuel readily at its disposal, and we have many mines located quite close to Bretonia space, making the supplies far more difficult to intercept. The cost of H-fuel shipments through Bretonia will be 5 Credits per H-fuel, or alternately, 1 Food for 1 H-fuel. This offer is open if you wish to take it, and I add that it is considerably safer to acquire materials from the IMG rather than a group like Rheinland or the GMG.

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

dammit, ARilias...
Rhienland accepts Bretonia's proposal: 5 H-Fuel and 10 credits for 10 metals per turn.

We ask if the GMG is interested in a trade agreement of credits for H-Fuel. terms can be decided on...

Message to the Chancellor of Rheinland

A trade agreement with the GMG? Looks like someone's forgotten what happened LAST time the GMG and Rheinland tried to interact. Again, the IMG proposes to trade H-fuel to Rheinland at the cost of 5 credits per unit or, alternately, 1 food for each H-fuel unit.

Signed, Guildmaster of the IMG

(Stay in character, everyone; odds are the GMG aren't going to react to positively to Rheinland, except possibly to brag)

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 5:05 am

(im in character, so dont get offended)
(did anyone read the thing about the freighters, my last post? basically you must have freighters to trade goods)

Message to Rheinland, Bretonia and IMG:

The GMG controls the major gas fields of the Sigma systems. We are currently recieving 119 H-Fuel per turn, which is set to increase with our new bases in the Honshu system. We also offer a cheaper price than the IMG, namely 3 Credits per unit, while they offer 5.

Rheinland, we would be happy to sell our H-Fuel to you. It has been many years since the war, and we are ready to forgive and forget. If you let us build a base in the Frankfurt system, we will sell you H-Fuel from there, avoiding the non-entry to Sigma 13 treaty.

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 5:07 am

Oh and the Battleship Hood is a base, and you dont get a battleship or any Falcons for it!

Its been immobile for ages, and is outdated. In all purposes it is a base.

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 5:53 am

Kusari purchases:

1 large base
1 Capital Shipyard
1 Fighter shipyard
2 Freighters

Let me know if this violates any rules so I can edit it later.

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 5:55 am

where are you putting these bases

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 7:25 am

It says in the rules that you cant place something in the same turn you build it.
I could put up the locations if you want but I was trying to save confusion.

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 8:45 am

Thanks, Outcast. I just wanted to confirm.

I'm not offended by your agreement either, it's just that I found it odd that two groups with a long history of animosity would make a treaty so easily. It's an image thing - I tend to think of Rheinland and the GMG as having the same relationship that England and France did in the Renaissance Period: tired of fighting a war that lasted more than a human lifetime, but still very bitter towards each other.

Mind you, this does put a bit of a damper in my envisionment of a sector-spanning IMG metal/H-fuel trade route.

Alright, alright. Look at me, editing post as required...

Post Wed Nov 03, 2004 8:56 am

Vd is correct about base placement. You pay to build the bases one turn, you get them at the beginning of the next turn and place them at that time. Once placed they begin to generate income (and increase your resource harvesting) and you may build stuff (if the bases are shipyards).

Message to the IMG:

Bretonia thanks you for your offer. The Brenoinan government would be more than happy to trade 5 Food for 5 H-Fuel per turn. As time progresses we would be willing to consider expanding this agreement. However, due to recent increases in expenditures, we will not have enough money to acquire the necessary transports until Turn 3. As a token of our appreciation please accept these 10 credits.

Additionally, the Bretonian government asks for your support in our expansion into the Tau-31 system. Current intelligence indicates that your base in that system, Holman Outpost, is home to 5 Hawk Light Fighters. Should any faction wish to attempt to prevent Bretonia's expansion these extra forces will prove useful.

Message to the GMG:

Your offer has been duly noted. Unfortunately the distance between your bases and Bretonian systems is too great. We can acquire the necessary H-Fuel from sources considerably closer to home. The Bretonian government thanks you for your offer. Perhaps Liberty and some of the more minor factions would be interested in trading with you?
