Sorry, one thing I forgot was my ships weapons.
Defender-xs.
Twin Diamond back to either side of the nose, Cerberus on top of cockpit.
Guns on wings have been relocaated to under neath the wings, and are actually Cannonball missile launchers. Multi warhead Torp launcher under hull, contains Starkiller torps and Cruise disruptors. Particle Beam Cannon in nose, shielded by a small level 10 shield. Sensor equipment in nose too. Flashpoint turret. Wings can retract, expand, like an Tornado planes, although are notorius for breaking in the Defender-xs. No mine launcher. Twin Adv CM dropper. Bots and bats, 30 each. 10 will charge each from 1 to max. (So I've got 3 full blasts of each)

Man completely forgot about that...
be right back.

Can I wonder why there's so many people with incredible ship loadouts? I mean, "Advanced Sabre Very Heavy Fighter w/ superpower antimatter torpedoes," or "Modified Titan w/ 8 class-10 mounts and a babydiaperchanger?"

Oh, on another tangent, I think that the "Liberty ships are weakest, then Bretonia, then Kusari, then Rheinland, then pirate" thing shouldn't be. Each house has their own style, but no one is 'weaker' than the other.

And shouldn't nomad and CODENAME weps be handed out by the GM?

(Oh, BTW lutz, the wings were originally designed to expand/contract, but it must have been taken out. You don't need to have a consequence for those - it should work perfectly.)

I hope I haven't angered anybody, I just think that there should be a little regulation in the way of things. Having a modified Dagger w/ seven Diamondbacks and increased maneuverability and thrust and super-neutronium armour is a bit much, I think .

Fair point Whasp Commander, but I also intend on putting downsides to my souped up Defender too. No mines, dodgy circuitry, the wings idea I'll scrap now, but I will think of something esle and other things to replace it. Only 3 guns on my ship though... 2 missile launchers, and a cannon I can't use. The whole thing is though is that we're gonna be on the same side anyhow apparently...

Post Sat Jul 26, 2003 12:22 am

Hehe...I have to agree with Whasp on that one (even though I did script my 'evil' char with a WILD FIRE cannon...albeit with some pretty heavy side-effects). I tried to tone down some of the weapons on their ships, but I suppose reducing the power of some of the ships (I think Shiro can live without the diaper-changer-thingamabob) would be reasonable.

If it is deemed overpowered, the Paralyzer missile launcher on Seki's ship can be replaced with the less powerful (but similar in ethos) Neutralizer missile launcher. In either case, the purpose is to disable opposing ships. As for a replacement for the WILD FIRE cannon...well, I can't quite come up with anything quite yet. Perhaps something massively powerful...but has limited use (e.g. cannot be effectively used in dogfights or planetary attacks or a defending battleship/cruiser).

Post Sat Jul 26, 2003 12:45 am

No, lutz, the wings are a brilliant customization - keep them!

And I suppose limited use of CODENAME weps should be okay - but how did that bounty hunter get that WILDFIRE in the first place? And if he had one, how could he lose so easily with them equipped? (I'm not saying that's bad - you could make a neat mini story with them)

Edit: And, btw, who is that guy who's running away from the planet? Danson?
And I don't think the planet is out in the borderworlds, as the content suggests it's near Liberty. How about being an Independent World system?

That's the poin I was trying to make with my (rather epic) post (see above).
The GM should determine stuff like heavily modded ships, it goes way beyond beleavable.
I could grant myself a level 15 Antimatter shield, wich uses only 1 bat to recharch.
Those things are insane and should be regulated or at least limited in one way or another.
It could really spoil things, as I beleave the story is just getting interesting.

Notice how everyone seems to know everyone from somewhere (mostly West Point)
And the story starts in Liberty space (like FL). Funny, don't you think?

Nicklees, it's only natural to follow Freelancer in the story, it's based upon afterall.
Going cak to uver stuff, I think so long as it's limited, and not abused then I don't see there being a problem.
In fact, the reverse could be a logistical nightmare. Imagine having to approve every weapon for every ship? Poor Wizard would be rushed off of his feet!
I think we're all sensible enough and mature enough to be able to use them wisely.

Whasp, OK, wings kept!

Ack! I missed your edited character profile. I suppose with that story, things might be okay. I thought you just pulled that state-of-the-line ship out of your... well, you get the idea. (Hey, how about your ship looks a lot like Juni's? )

And, yeah... half the people already know eachother... at least Daniel's been pretty much a loner up till now so we can get some new character interaction there .

And we should decide where exactly the New Harlem system is. I have the feeling it's connected to Colorado, actually, so wouldn't that make it an IW instead of a BW? Does it have tradelanes/jumpgates, or is it jump hole only? What factions frequently populate it?

Post Sat Jul 26, 2003 1:45 am

I'm afraid I don't knwo anyone here, I only joined TLR about a month ago!
So Idont' know who Daniel is.

Funnily enough though, I thought EXACTLY the same thing for the loaction of New Harlem, just off Colarado, behind a jumpgate that stems from Planet Denver.

Post Sat Jul 26, 2003 2:10 am

If we decide that the New Harlem system is anywhere near the core star systems of the Liberty sector, then my story-posts are kinda screwed. However, all I'll need to do is edit a few lines. So far the only reference to a location would be in my post "the slum of the Liberty sector" as I so quaintly put it. I was pretty much assuming it to be somewhere between Colorado and Kepler and it being a kind of backwater system anyways. But I could have been mistaken.

Also, to clarify the WILDFIRE thingie...it was in the hold of the BH ship. However, that could be changed around a bit. I was thinking of doing it the way I did so the post wouldn't get overly long. Hmmm, I see the opportunity (not just for me) to go into a whole lot of side-stories. And the extra armor only gives it an extra 2, maybe 3, shots before the armor plates get compromised. However, like I said, if it is deemed ridiculous, then I can change the ship specs. Or at least put in a whole lot more side-effects of the enhanced nature of the ship (armor plating makes the ship more massive thereby decreasing maneuverability...modified control scheme enhances the maneuverability, but reduces fine-tuned flying, thereby reducing piloting ability in asteroid fields/volatile gas clusters...that sort of thing).

I feel I should also make a note that my chars don't like to use their 'special weapons' because like I said, the Tizona has a very high chance of incapacitating the firing ship (Seki's in this case), and the WILDFIRE (or some other weapon if it deemed unsuitable for Shiro to possess) causes a major power drain that disables the other weapons for several minutes on the ship and draining the shields by about half (this side-effect makes more sense now that I think about it). As for the salvaged power generators (which only enable me to fire about 5 second bursts of weapons fire at fire): wouldn't it be acceptable to do this? I mean, scavenged weapons/equipment can be mounted provided that money, time, and risks are taken by the mounting ship. This is just my opinion, but I think that the scavenging of higher equipment should be allowed...otherwise, we might see a mass exodus to the Sigma systems to purchase Titans, Sabres, or Eagles just to be allowed higher level weaponry (it'll turn into FL back when I was still playing it online). If I stand alone on this, so be it. Either way works for me.

Post Sat Jul 26, 2003 2:57 am

Ein; I think your characters are fine. Drakes aren't meant to mount those weapons, and you've compensated just fine.

lutz; Daniel's my character: Daniel "Psawhn" Morlone. Read my massive post in this thread. 11th post. The reason it isn't in the stickied thread is because I was just too late, but Wizard got me in .

I got the impression that New Harlem was not under the jurisdiction of any governmet, hence the "Independent" world. How about this: There is a jumpgate to the system from Colorado, one tradelane between Planet New Harlem and the Colorado gate, and a few jump holes to Colorado, Gallileo, and New York?
Wait... that would effectively put it right on top of Alaska, wouldn't it? Perhaps move it to the other side... links to Colorado, Kepler, NY? and possibly curaco(sp?)

Edit: Wth? I'm a captain? Since when did I get demoted? Last I saw I had 400+ posts in total! Oh, well...

Got a quicky techy question: How do we deal with NPCs in the story-line? Say, my conversation with the New Harlem control operator. I would imagine pertinent information be dictated by the GM (which is why I give very general replies, and no real specifics atm). If it seems like I am being reluctant in my story contributions it is because I do not know the limits to which I am constrained (such as my call for more info on Danson). Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

At age 12 just before his father died, Trai's father told him a story of his Grand father. How he was one of the best fighter pilots in one of the Liberty Navy top fighter wings. Then being killed by friendly fire. Now Trai's father was dying from a fatal wound he received for protecting a convoy with his family on it from a Rheinland gunboat/fighter wing. Trai told his fater he would protect his mother and sister. Five years later his mother was mugged and killed on her way home on planet New Berlin leaving Trai and his 9 year old sister, Treina to fend for them selves. Times got grim for the two as it was getting harder for them to come up with money to buy food. Until one day when it would turn for the better. Trai had found a job on an Engineering Transport call the starry Knight. Trai and Treina were now living on an old trade transport make enough money to save up and buy their own ship. After saving up for 6 years they had enough money for a couple of Dagger LFs. Still living on the transport, Trai taught Treina how to fly her dagger. 2 monthes later the transport came under fire when it wondered into a fight between Liberty and Rheinland fighters. Massive damage was done to the transport that it had to be abandonded. Having Dagger LFs the two quickly came under fire. Trai had 2 Barrger MkIs, 2 Azraels And 1 Stun Pulse turret, Treina had 4 Azraels and 1 Lava Blade MkII turret. As the fight insued the two got seperated, and had to fight on their own. After the fight was over Trai wiated for Treina by the Starry Knight. An hour went by when Trai went to look for her. As every minute went by, Trai got moreand more worried for his sister. After 2 hours of looking he found his sisters dagger, destroyed. After losing his entire family because of liberty and Rheinland Trai snapped. He vowed to destroy the two Nations. Some how some way he would avenge his families deaths. After 14 months of pulling odd jobs for BW. Trai has upgraded to a BW Series Y Stiletto HF with, a Sun Stalker missle, Rapier Turret, 2 Angelitos MKIIIs, and 2 Salamanca Mk Is, with a Adv. Aegis HF sheild. Trai is know headed towards Rheinland space to pick some fights.

Whasp Commander: I Don't think it was place yet, but since you added the dark matter clouds and reffered to Kepler and Gallileo, I think it would be wise to actually locate it.

I'd place it to the left and slightly above (north) of New York (mirrored position of Alaska)

Like this:

Tradelanes running from Planet New Harlem to jumpgates to New York and Colorado. also maybe a mining operation or a researchstation out there, just to make it a bit crowded.
Jumpholes and piratebases and such, are to be placed storywise.

Is that an option guys (Wiz)?
