help with MAT file export!

okay, here's the deal.

I've got a ship, and it's textured in Ms3D.
I export it to CMP, then go to export MAT. It asks me what i should name it, and i do. Then it goes to selecting the textures. I select the first one, and when i press okay/open, it says "cannot open texture file"

The file is a .jpg file that worked on the model. I'm asking WTF is going on?

hope someone can shed some light on it.

You can only use TGA or DDS formatted textures in FL.

Actually you can but the MAT exporter doesn't recognize it. DDS is your best bet, it's smaller than a corresponding tga file.

What image program are you using?

thanks for the quick responses guys.

When i use the DDS file, milkshape CTD without any malfunction, it just DOES.

What do i do now?

which version of milkshape are you using? I remember 1.6.6 had problems with DDSs, I'm using 1.7.4 without any problems
