check your .mat file- if you're using TGAs for your textures, you might need to flip them.

i flipped the screen tga as per the tut said , i tryed unflipping it and still same result.

When its docked its fine its just in space its the problem.

then it might be your LOD settings- try 0,9999 in your shiparch entry

i set that as default to start

Are you using 24- or 32-bit TGA's?

I have had similar problems using 32-bit TGA's whereby the areas of the model using them would be invisible.. Resave your textures as 24-bit and create a new .mat file.

Or you could just use .dds files and not have to deal with these shenanigans .

ok tryed .dds and i can now see through the cockpit :/

Ok I've had that problem also and I've never been able to figure out why but it always happened when I the first group in the list is the cockpit glass. Anyway this is how you fix it.

In milkshape highlight the 'glass' area of the mesh and duplicate it then delete the original. Make sure you assign the glass texture to the new group and then export.

That always did the trick.

There is probably a better way and if anyone knows one please share it.

Would you mind sending me the .ms3d and textures so I can have a look?

My e-mail is [email protected] or you can find me at the forums at Pathfinder Studios or
Freelancer Ship Modellers.

I would really like to solve this.

Also, make sure your textures are to the power of 2 always.
56x56
128x128
256x256
512x512

apparently FL doesn't like anything unsquare

The .dds export plugin for photoshop will not allow you to create .dds textures if they're not in that format so that couldn't be the problem.

a problem I had of seeing right through the cockpit straight through the ship was to do with backfaces!! the model needs faces inside to stop you seeing right through. so if you make a cockpit it should be fine
