Show off your finished and in progress work **Archived**

I thought there was already a thread for this, I guess I was wrong Anyway, here is a thread where you can show off any finished work or WIP's regarding 3d modeling/texturing. If you post pictures please either link them or leave a thumbnail. Thanks

Edit: Thanks to all that contributed to this thread. As I stated a couple days ago, I will be locking this thread up to avoid having threads that are too big floating around. I've already created a new thread for this which can be found here, it is also stickied. This thread will remain stickied, just with a piece of hardware attached - Para

Have been working on a rendering of Harrier's Snare 9 in Photoshop. This is what I've got so far...done in Photoshop only.

this is my first time posting any pics of ships i made. so feedback would be nice
the texture was a 5minute slap on in milkshape seeing as mine's expired lol and ya can't save. so didn't want to spend time and not being able to save. Looks a bit streaky on the sides but won't do when i'm done

I'm liking the design, textures could use some work (but you already said that ), how many polys is this beast?

Post Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:16 am

LOL just over 7000 faces!! that's even with an optimizer modifier! as for texturing! I'm trying to relearn texturing in 3ds for that pro look but it's a little tougher and not as intuitive an interface as Milkshape but ultimately better grade!

they wanted my signature but i couldn't get my pen ink to stay on the screen

here's the almost finished render done in photoshop! and different views from Milkshape.

The ship is looking good, textures are coming along nicely. Do you use Lithium Unwrap? It has a model optimizer 10x better than either in Milkshape. Try it out if you dont use it. It's also good for texturing rounded objects.

i haven't use Lithium actually. would it be near 3dsmax in quality of finish?

Post Sat Feb 26, 2005 7:33 pm

The model is looking good, nice compact design..

Lithium Unwrap is a great program that allows you many options for mapping faces, and is especially good for cylinders and spheres, and those odd curved faces that are so hard to get right..... best of all its free.... its successor Ultimate Unwrap (which is even better) is not free but only about 30 USD.... There were links to both on the tutorials section at chumbalum.. Add Photoshop 7 and you have all the tools...

I rarely post pics of my work here but I figure maybe it's time I got a little more involved .

It's a pirate light fighter and the first of line I'm working on it's also my first attempt at making my own textures from scratch .
