Ok, first off, I'd like to tell warzog and everybody else that worked on this mod what a fantastic job they did and also I would like to thank them for the time and effort that they've put into making it.
Second, I'd like to ask you a question: How long does it take you to finish, lets say, the battle in which the rogues attack the Prison ship? I'm asking this because it took me about 20 minutes, and I don't know if I should be ashamed about this. I'm trying to say that the AI is a little too difficult for me and I wanted to know if it's the same for you guys. I thought that I was a pretty good pilot (I passed the original FR storyline about 10 times just for fun) but in this mod the battles are kind of annoying. I want to point out that I do NOT mean to offend the amazing work that you guys did, but I do want to know if there is anyway that I could stop my enemies from using those goddamn nanobots or at least lower their quantity...Maybe I just suck at fighting, but please if anybody could help me in some way, I would be really grateful.Thank you.

Umm...not sure which version you are playing, but Privateer: the Reckoning has not had a storyline for some time. at least since version 4.0 and probably the version before it. right now we are working on Privateer: the Reckoning Gamma1.0.3. Also the universe ist totally different

Even if they are hostile? I have tried and they do not respond.

Wow you mean there was a version with a story line to follow? Why was it abandon? How do I find the version that has a story?

The missions were removed when the Gemini Sector was created.
I tried to modify the missions to work with Gemini, but they wouldn't.

As to which versions did what:
Versions 1.## Added ships/weapons to the standard Freelancer game.
Versions 2.## Added Privateer Commodities to the standard Freelancer game.
Versions 3.## Modified Freelancer's Universe to match the Gemini Sector.
Versions 4.## Added the Gemini Sector, and removed the missions.

There's also a ship pack that will add several ships to the standard Freelancer Game.

If you have one of the 4.## versions, and have the missions, you've got a corrupt download, or a bad installation of the mod.

Every version should still be available here at LR.
Simply do a search for Reckoning, or Warzog.

NOTE:
Due to an unknown problem with my current computer, there are corrupt files in the last few mods.
(Part of the reason I stopped working on it.)
The first few mods have bugs that were due to my inexperience, at the time.

You were right, I reinstalled the mod and it works! Yay!
Even if I do get crashes randomly, it's still really fun to explore the Gemini sector. I've already made a list of shipwrecks thanks to the rumors...
All I can say is keep it up!

Glad it helped!

As I said, I'm unable to continue.
In fact, I just got back on-line.
My computer's habit of corrupting files killed my modem.
I narrowed the problem down to my computer corrupting several files of Nero, and they, in-turn, disabled my modem.
If things ever turn around for me, I'm going to either build my own computer, or get another laptop.
This POS HP is a real pain in the butt to live with!

I'm glad to be back, system crashes, replacing computer and all.

Recently I've been playing the vegstrike remake of Privateer.

http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forum ... m.php?f=24

It uses the original graphics and is very close to the game play of the original.

It also has an active playing group and modding group.

On the other hand, I've been wondering what would haven with the Privateer: The Reconing OpenSP beta, so I dropped back in after a search on Google. Do you have a WC-style universe without the tradelanes and with a working autopilot?

Let me hope ...

Thanks for the blast from the past.

The last version has the Gemini Sector, without tradelanes, but Freelancer doesn't support Autopilot.
It has some bugs caused by my computer.
Speaking of which, I believe I may have discovered the reason, my ram module had a chip that has recently failed, completely.
I've got a new module on order.
If it solves the problem, I may get back into the mod, if Bob doesn't mind.

BTW-I've been playing with the Privateer Remake, WCU, and Vegastrike games, too.
The Remake crew is definately into the "REMAKE" aspect.
WCU (Wing Commander Universe), which is similar to the Reckoning, but highly expanded, is more to my liking.
All 3 use OpenGL, which my computer barely supports, so my ability to truely enjoy them is limited.

Glad to hear you could be coming back Warzog Don't hear from Bob McDob much so don't know at what state his efforts have come to. I submitted
my revised material commodities list to him but heard nothing more.

Quixotal:
I've always had that problem with him, too.
But, then again, Bob is a bit busy, to say the least.
If you've ever been to the WC News' forum, you'll find that there are few, if any members who've posted more than Bob.
(He's got over 2,700 posts!)

And it's my understanding that he's got his hands in several other Wing Commander/Privateer projects, besides this one.

@Warzog, well I've finally been playing the mod and reimmersing myself back into Privateer. I have to say this mod is excellently done. I actually got a couple of those old thrills back as I afterburned into the jumpholes hoping my ship jumped before any pirates shot down my shields. Ah, the good old days of Privateer are back! There are a heck of a lot more pirates and retros than I remember, but that's a good thing.

There are a few commodity problems, mostly to do with improper pricing or not providing enough of the commodities usually found at each station in the original game. But nothing too extraordinarily glaring, except I can't seem to find any place that sells Uranium, I see Plutonium from time to time, but so far no Uranium. I somehow picked up a few Freelancer commodities, which is no big deal and actually adds to the immensity of the sector.

The music is a great addition! In fact, I love the music much more than the FL music. I even remember one planet that had a terrific piano score. The mining bases, Perry & New Constantinople are superb model creations for the game. I am mightily impressed.

One thing that is annoying, but not bad at all, is that there are so many other ships on similar or intersecting flight paths that on GOTO I often see my ship running into and hitting those other ships. If I had to pay insurance for space collisions, I'd be paying astronomical rates or I would bankrupt the insurance company who had to pay my claims.

Anyway, I finally can give you a sincere congrats on your hard work. It came out marvelously and so far very few CTDs for me. The combat is fun, I think I remember the Centurion and Orion being a little stronger, but I'm having a lot of exciting dogfights using the Galaxy.

Great work. It's a shame your computer kept messing up the files and you had to end your modding.

Thanks Warzog, and thank you Bob for starting it and continuing it.

Sir Spectre:
Glad you like it.
The Perry & New Constantinople were done by Bob McDob and textured by lvocclta (Can't ever remember how he spells it.)
Can't remember the name of the guy who did the Mining base...
I think he also did the Tarsus.
I've heard complaints about the high number of pirates, and other traffic, but it seemed like the best way to increase difficulty, without crippling the ships.
The Centurion, and Galaxy, had been deemed to powerful, which is why I backed them off a bit.
IIRC, there's only one source for Uranium, and it has to be mined.
(Can't remember the system, though.)
Which reminds me, mineral prices are based on their distance from mineable sources.
And the few places that sell them usually have a mineable source nearby.
I agree about the music, had to replace that FL noise!

@Warzog,

Nice touch, I just saw myself sitting in a bar in New Constantinople. "Privateer Sir Spectre" I took screenshots of it.
