I have a very fast high-end machine that is well streamlined in it's config (I'm a tech with nearly 20yrs experience) and I can guarantee (as much as anyone can ) that these ctd's are not my h'ware or my s'ware config. the mod runs perfectly in every other respect.

rather a peculiar business, really. oh well, never mind, I avoid the NY-Tex j'gate now and always save before using the j'hole.

..how about getting me off these antibiotics..

It's like what Chemus was saying...
The mods he did on the ships work on his computer, but not mine.
You get the Texas CTD, but I don't.
pSYCHO repaired some ships, that didn't work on my computer, but worked on his.
What would you call it?
Sounds like hard/software configs to me.
And my 2.2ghz Athlon computer is only 2-3 months old.
Unless...
Are you running a Pentium 4?

I have been trying to re-create these crashes on my system as well.. but am unable to!

I tried dorking around with the hardware/software accelleration tabs for various devices..

Loaded, unloaded drivers..

Here is my setup:

AMD 2000+ Mobile
512mb RAM
64mb ATI Radeon 320m IGP
Windows XP service pack 2 beta (i know)
Some Generic Sound Card

If anyone should be getting CTD, it's me.. but that doesnt happen. What versions of freelancer have I tried?

Freelancer 1.0 modded with Privateer 2.5
Freelancer 1.3 SDK modded with Privateer 2.5

I can go in and out texas jumpholes, jumpgates, and everywhere else all day without a single crash.

On. Why , what's that got to do with anything? Do you know or are you just clutching at straws? it's really not that much of a problem now that I'm aware of it.

This is the only indicator we've identified, so far.
Two Athlon's can't duplicate it, but one Pentium 4 can.
Perhaps that hyper-thread thingy is the problem?

Warzog : make that 3 Athlons , im running a 2000+ XP and cant crash at those spots

Tawakalna : try turning hyperthreading off , then load up freelancer with the priv 2.5 beta and try crash the game as those trade lanes / jump gates youve been having problems with , hopefully it still crashes for you , yes i said stilc rashes , that way we can rule out hyperthreading and see what else it could be

oh yeah , what version of directx are you using ? i have 9.0b or what ever the latest one is

did that, still crashes. Even went and loaded it on another machine (PIII-1.3ghz, 512mb, W2K) and it did the same there, ctd at Tx j/gate. Just to be absolutely sure I loaded it onto my little lad's machine, again the same.

of course I'm running DX9b <sheesh>

I've yet to try it on an AMD system, I tend not to use them. When I do I'll let you know the results.

happens elsewhere too.

last night, Omicron Theta>Omicron Gamma, every time I came within "9" of the jumphole on the Theta side. 1/2 dozen times in succession.

Sigma 17>Omicron Theta, again within 9k of the jumphole on the Sigma side.

have you increased cruise speed? it's very hard to fly through dense obstacles now, especially the Omicron asteroid fields and the NY Badlands.

like the way you've turned up the AI, really makes for good fights and loads of damage, much better than before.

Did a lot of work on the AI.

BTW-Have you tried deleting the "Ships" folder in the mod?
If the problem goes away when you do, I can provide you with several versions to help isolate the ship causing the problem.
(The last time I was able to duplicate the problem, it was solved by removing ships.)

the AI is very impressive, far superior to the original, in fact better than SL or most WC. Don't know what you did but it bloody worked! Got out to the Omegas in a Thunderbolt, which in your version of the game is a top ship, and I got thraped! Ace! love it when it's hot and nasty...
