Sir Spectre:
IMHO, except for the texture, YES!!
It DOES look better!
It's not as squished, or rounded over as that one is.
It looks much more like a Galaxy should!

Update:
I've used FL Explorer to rebuild the 17 new systems in the Gemini Sector.
(I'm hoping that the Nomad Systems are usable as I previously did them, we'll see.)
I still need to add the Jumpholes...
Redo the Market_Misc.ini, Market_Ships.ini, and the Market_Commodities.ini...
Whip up a new Universe.ini...
And to incorporate them into the mod...
Before I can test it.
Hopefully this will fix it?

I've added several new bases, tradelanes, mining areas, combat areas, etc.
I've even made missions available on several bases.
And there's a couple of Pleasure Systems...
A Mercenary's "Home System"...
And even included a few Kilrathi and Nomad zones.
Should be nice...
If I did it right.

Even though it really looks good...hope u can the galaxy to work...
Still no-one to texture my shaman =( ?

Fl Explorer is making me mad!
I made the mistake of stop-n-go creation of the new systems.
When I did, the system I stopped at was over-written when I restarted.
I tried adding that system again, and it over-wrote the last system I created.
And erased the DLL!!!
Sooooo....
I started all over...
When I did, I forgot to deactivate a mod, and it refused to write a DLL for the 12 hours of work I did!
So, I'm back to square 1!!!
(Tomorrow.)

BobMcDob, I had been on vacation since thursday and have not had access to email. Tonight or tomorrow (Tuesday or Wednesday) I'll surely be able to re-send. I cant figure out why they didnt get through though.. I spent some time uploading (128k ISDN) in 4 seperate emails (one email per attachment). Did you get only 1 of the 4 emails I sent?

Maybe your mail server blocks multiple messages from the same sender in a certain block of time.... that can suck, because I use hotmail and cannot attach all of the files together at once (1mb max).

Something interesting to read while waiting for the mod. "Privateer : More Human than Human" & "Privateer : Beginnings"

Update:
Well...
I think I've finally got FL Explorer figured out.
You've got to build your systems in one go.
You've got to Un/Re-install it for each new mod.

It looks like I've got the new Gemini Systems done...
Complete with infocards on the Systems, Planets, Stations, and Wrecks.
I'll start assembling the mod, and check it out, tomorrow.
BTW:
It took me 15 hours to do the 17 new systems...
A couple of the Potter systems are kinda bland...
I was getting very drowsy.
(And fed up with having done them all 4 times!)
good night all

Warzog-- the "new" systems? Do you mean the ones that are from Righteous Fire, or?

I am a little confused now.. I was sent a while ago, a map of the Gemini Sector that was a screenshot from FreeLancer. All systems from Priv and Righteous Fire were there.. it was pretty cool, (except the background was still from FL and needed changing).

So what are the 17 new systems you talk about? Did you decide to keep the FL universe and stack Privateer on top of it? Or were you still doing the whole privateer universe?

Anyway, keep it up man, take your time and relax! Lets make this look good

Bob-- I have emailed you the textures. Warzog-- ask Bob for the perry naval base when its done.

edit: Anybody else need some textures and or 2d graphics? Infocards? Proofreading? Backgrounds? Maps?

lvxoccvlta:
In Freelancer...
including the systems you can't explore...
There are 53 systems.
In Privateer's Gemini sector...
There are 70 systems.
I've re-arranged the 53 Freelancer systems...
and added 17 NEW systems...
to make up the Gemini Sector for Freelancer.
(which is the image I sent you)

Because I couldn't get the Gemini sector to work...
(I presume because I didn't have a DLL for the new systems.)
I've had to rewrite them using a program called Freelancer Explorer.
I am currently in the middle of replacing the original 17 new systems with the new 17 new systems.

Wow warzog, that's a pretty cool idea..

since perry is being worked on right now.. is there a need for other bases at the moment too? ie) new constantinople

Also, I kinda like the idea of using Tripoli Shipyard from FL, or something in a similar but modifed form, as the basis for the mining bases we saw in Privateer (namely the one you begin at)

I have some expereince with making new DLLs ... I'll be happy to work on them in that regard.

lvxoccvlta: I think my inbox was probably just too small. Try email Tolwyn and ask him for the FTP access.

Post Thu Apr 15, 2004 12:14 pm

lvxoccvlta:
All of the FL systems are still in the mod...
They've been renamed, and moved around a bit, but are basically the same.
I did have to add/remove/change the jump points, but otherwise left them alone.

Bob McDob:
I'm gonna give that Freelancer Explorer one more shot at making a DLL.
Near as I can figure, if I make one change, I have to rewrite everything that goes into the DLL.
Otherwise, it overwrites the old DLL, without retaining the old info.
If I'm not successful, I'll make up a list, and email it to you.

Update:
Combined the Freelancer Explorer Systems into the mod...
(Took a day and a half!)
Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, I lost a lot of the names and info that's supposed to be in the DLL.
I've gotten into three of the new systems before booting to desktop.
Got to redo the DLL somehow.

Update:
I've got everything identified, but it still boots to desktop after 2-3 jumps.
I've been working almost 2 months straight, and I can't get the Gemini Sector to work!
I don't know what to try/do next.
I'm burnt out...

Warzog, it's most likely the path files if it crashes when jumping from system to system. Why don't you try to set a path out of the system you're in?

You can also try FL Data Storm. If it crashes at the end of parsing the files, you'll know it's the path files. If it runs to the end, you should get an error log file that provides you with warnings about possible problems with the ini files.

Post Fri Apr 16, 2004 7:29 am

Eraser:
Nah, it's not the path files...
An error in the path files shows up as an endlessly repeating "Cannot load such and such system" error in FLspew.txt

HOWEVER...
Due to an annoying biological malfunction, I've been kept out of my bed for the last 26 hours...
Not being one to sit around doing nothing, I did some really bizarre experiments on the mod(s).

While cleaning up some files for a mod without the Gemini Sector I discovered that I'd accidently deleted 2 wrecks from SolarArch.ini
When I ran the mod, I discovered that 2 bugs reported by FLspew.txt finally disappeared.
So...
I made the changes to the Gemini mod...
Which turned up a misspelled jumphole...
Which in turn, exposed some bad fuse's...
And a bad texture (missing material) on the Galaxy, and an as yet unidentified other ship...
As well as an unidentified ship with contrails, that doesn't have hardpoints for them.
And I keep losing system names the longer I travel.
I've gone from New Detroit to CMF-A without any "Boot-to-Desktop's."
(I've created a new base in CMF-A, so I'll take up from there when I get up, Later.)

I've sent Bob McDob some files in the Hopes that he can come up with a working DLL.
