Privateer the Reckoning & WC Conversion Mod is BACK ON!!

EDIT: This is an old post that alerted some to the fact that there was a Privateer mod suffering from lack of attention. Though long after I posted it, it did alert Warzog to the possibility of taking up the mod where it was left. And that is to the benefit of all of us.

I was visiting Crius.net boards from WCNews.com and saw that Bob McDob, who does post here from time to time, has stopped working on his Freelancer to Wing Commander/Privateer conversion mod. These are some reasons he cites:

Well, for one thing, I completed everything I set out to do, with some notable exceptions. Almost all the ships I wanted converted have, along with weapons, and I'm satisified with their stats ...

For another thing, enthusiasm has dropped off considerably. This may be due to the fact that I have been unable to get my mod submitted to LancersReactor ...

What's this unability to get the mod submitted to TLR about?

Also, I ran out of ideas. Quite frankly, when "working on the mod" means picking mp3s that nobody else will listen to due to the swelling size of the file and questionable legality, it's time to stop deluding yourself.

Therefore, this mod is dead until further notice. I won't be handing this off to other people a la Fleet Action (although as per the Open-Open Source philosophy, anyone who downloads the mod is free to edit it and upload their changes, provided they credit both me and themself). Nor am I willing to abandon hope entirely ...

It would be nice for users to be able to edit it if only we could download it from TLR. I know the problem lays somewhere with being able to zip it up for FLMM or something, but I think this is a problem best solved quickly because it would be a shame to lose this MOD to an uploading/downloading problem. Please, lets help him get it uploaded.

I wish I knew more specifically about what McDob was doing, has anybody had any discussions with him?

Considering that I've always made the mod available, I didn't think this would cause much concern. However, I've managed to zip the mod into a FLMM-friendly format, so it should be appearing on LR soon

Appreciate the interest, don't get a whole lot now

Awesome, can't wait! BTW, where was it available before? You never answered me that on Crius.net.

@Warzog, there is a demo of the mod that Bob McDob released just a day ago. Here is the link to that thread.

However, what he said he would submit in an above post, was a bit buggy I think and wasn't allowed on TLR download in its present state. I am unable to play the demo, because of computer problems, so I don't know what all that particular download entails.

Bob - You have my full support if that helps . As for lack of interest, I do not believe that to be the case, as a lot of people around here are eagerly awaiting its release. Besides, I received only a minimal amount of interest regarding my two mods, however they turned out to be quite popular. All of the evidence that I have suggests that most of the people who download mods can't be bothered posting their interest. I know that it shouldn't be like that but it is. A good example is my "Star Wars Music Mod". Only a few people expressed an interest, however more than 800 people downloaded it within three days. Don't let it get you down.

@Esq, if he reads this thread again, I'm sure Bob will be excited to hear your view on how people show interest in mods. But just to let you know, his last post (the one your reponse is directed at) was posted 3 months ago.

Ah. I see that once again I am behind the times here on TLR. Damn!

Sir Spectre:
Thanx!
Nice buncha ships!
I plugged them into my Equalizer Mk II mod, and I've been having a blast!
The Thunderbolt, Hellcat, and Vindicator are fantastic!
The Crossbow, while quite nice, fills the screen with white light when it hit's cruise!
(8 exhaust nozzles will do that!)
Their next release is supposed to have the Centurion, and the Galaxy!
Then all I'd need would be the Tarsus and the Orion, and I'd be in heaven!

@Warzog, you're welcome.

Their next release is supposed to have the Centurion, and the Galaxy!
I think I saw pictures of those on wcnews.com. They look sweet, including having a shark mouth emblazened on the side of the Centurion like the old style fighter jets.

Sir Spectre...
I've just joined the "Privateer the Reckoning" mod team!
I've plugged all of the ships into my Equalizer Mk II mod.
Stats read correct.
There's only ONE Navy now, the Liberty Navy, and they fly Vindicator's.
The various police fly the Hellcat.
The Epee, Ferret, Hornet, and 2 Sabre's are civilian ships.
The Crossbow replaces the Titan.
(That sucker will blind you with it's 8 exhausts when it hits cruise!)

Needless to say, they're ALL in the cinematics!
Looks great, too.
The player's Epee joins up with King's Hellcat.
The Donau comes in escorted by two Vindicator's.
A squadron of Order Thunderbolt's comes in, and takes out the Donau.
And then Hellcat's, Vindicator's, and Thunderbolt's fight it out!

The Player starts in an Epee, Juni flies a Vindicator, and King's in a Hellcat.
No 100,000cr 1st payment in this one.
I'm currently making up some WC/P weapons, and will redo all of the loadouts in the game.
The Centurion is slated to replace the Dagger, and maybe some Bounty Hunter ships.
(Although, I'm considering using the Dagger as a Bounty Hunter light version of the Centurion.)
The Galaxy will replace the freighters.

I don't know how much will be in the final release, but this is how she's going right now.

Tolwyn is working on the models, and I'm busy with the weapons.

That sounds excellent warzog!! I can't wait for this baby to be released, as I'm a huge Wing Commander fan (since 1993).

New update:
I finally found a sight with ship stats, so I'll be able to get their performance, and loadouts right.
Weapons are going into beta testing.
They are:
Laser, Mass Driver, Photon Cannon, Particle Cannon, Tachyon Cannon, Ion Cannon, and the Plasma Gun.
Missles include: Dumbfire, Leech, Heat Seeker, Image Recognition, and Identification Friend or Foe.
There's also a mine, and a torpedo, along with the regular nanos/batts/thrusters/etc.

Tolwyn is working on a model of the Blackmane base from WC3.
(I'm gonna hafta run WC3 again to refresh my memory on it.)
Not sure where he wants to plug it in, yet.
