A couple of Freelancer background questions.

*****************************POSSIBLE BUT UNLIKELY SPOILER**************************

I see dates in the game listed such as 780 A.S. What does the A.S. stand for? After Separation? After Sol? Also I've heard of an Eighty Years War in Sigma-13, what was that war and who fought it?

I always assumed it stands for after settlement.

Hmmm...was wondering this too. Because...

*SLIGHT SPOILER* Manhattan, in it's info., says it was the first planet founded in Sirius in 1 AS...sooo...After Settlement would make sense (but I didn't know what it meant at the time - just think that suggestion sounds right).

Sorta related...(spolier alert)

In the mid-early parts of the story, it seems like a whole bunch of Liberty people are in a consipracy to get the artifact. But at the end it turns out none "infected"...why do they care so much then? (if you're wondering what I'm talking about, think about the Freeport 7 surivivor in the Rhino that gets blown away by the Navy or other survivors that get shot). I would understand if they were also "infected", but at the end it seems like only Rhineland was hit by the Nomads. Anyone have ideas as to why Liberty acts all weird too?

The less said about the plot the better... it's not the game's best feature. I think the absolutely most necessary feature to be incorporated in the first patch, is the ability to hit ESC during the single player dialogue.

I had always assumed it was After Sol, but I don't believe I have ever seen any concrete evindence to confirm it.

I don't really run this place but I have an understanding with the people who do.

At the GameStop I bought my copy from, I went back a few days later to ask how it was selling...

The guy said it's actually selling pretty good.

I don't think it is After Sol. Didn't it take them more then one year to leave Sol in the first place? That wouldn't make sense. I think it is After Shipfall or After Settlement. Also, this thread should be in the Spoiler forum with some of its content.

I had thought it stood for "After Starfall" or "After Systemfall" similar to referring to making a landing on a planet as "planetfall".

I think this is an internal joke, referring to the interview with the game designers Freelancer should be setteld about 800 years "After Starlancer". See the intro from Freelancer, somthing about Coalition and Alliance, the Coalition won, the Alliance started five ships with cryogenic frozen settlers out of the system ... and so on.

Anyway. I always pondered this. The best I could come up with was 'After Sirius'; I suppose that's not as good as 'After Settlement' though. I don't suppose anyone else has any thoughts?

After settlement would seem better, since they settled in Sirus leaving that one out, and it would have taken a few hundred years to colonise all those planets.
