Too Easy!!!

Dont get me wrong, the story was great and interesting, but only 13 missions long?! I was expecting this to only be the beginning! I beat the entire game with my Dragon heavy fighter! Now theres no story and only exploring(and lots of it) and money to be made. About the funnest part of the game now is stumbling into a fraighter full of diamonds near New Tokyo... I am definatly impressed with what the game introduced, but it needed to be much more... and the multiplayer sucks... I would expect more from the time put into this...

Yes, I totaly agree.I have played it for like 13 hours and have just now completed it. The game is very good, but it is to much based on the single storyline. I think the gamecreators could have done more, because the game, in a way, is over when u complete the main misson. I can soon buy the most expensive ship, and then the whole point of playing will be over, because that is the very reason why you make money; to buy equipment.
FL is simular a little mac game called "Escape Velocity", that was made in the erly 90's. I that game you start with a small cargo vessel, and have to earn money in diffrent ways. Here you can do all the things you can do in FL, but allso work as a pirate (take over ships), work for one of two fightings sides(rebels or the confederate) and if u complete all the quest for one side u can buy a battleship (that have 4 smaller fighters in it that u can release), in addision to this u can hire escorts, buy a LOT of diffrent equipmen (there isn't realy very many things you can buy in FL besides guns, turrets, and missiles), take over planets (make the pay a sum of money dayly), and so on...(you should actualy try it, even if it is VERY old it is one of the best games i have played----bad graphix/GREAT gameplay)
Hope that a possible FL 2, will be longer.

Pardon my English...

You got to be kidding. I did not find it easy. The 13 missions are comprised of 48 sub-missons. Plenty of things to do. The game was made for a large group of players....not just you die hard space jocks.

If you find the story line too easy, try completing it using only cargo ships.

I gave up on my cargo ship a couple of missions in.

I wouldn't say it's too easy. But the storyline is too short, too poorly thought-out in its conclusion, and too forced. I'm lucky I managed to get a Dagger before being thrown into the middle of things. I never had more than one or two of the random missions between plot missions, and barely had enough money to keep up with missile and repair costs. Then when I got my Dagger, the missions came so quickly that I never got enough money to upgrade, and had to turn the difficulty setting WAY down in order to survive.

I suppose its how you play it ,im still level 3 but have been playing for 20 hours have a HF and 150,000 credits, and will go see juni when i see fit. so it is me who is making the choice of how long the SP will last. ill go see her when ive got about 200,000 credits. it will be a long time before i finish SP,and then move on to MP.

Saber,

How did you get that annoying mission wypt to go away inbtwn story-driven missions? It is soo damn annoying... to me at least.

Also, do the prices EVER fluctuate ? are they for the most part (outside of mission stuff) fixed at every base? sure seems that way in the NY system but have not yet left NY very often or for long...

Thanks for and help!

The economy is not dynamic. All prices are static per base/port.

The constant reminder that Juni (or someone) is waiting was annoying at first, but I learned to ignore it....

Me no gun

MP sucks? escuse me??? try starting all over again w/ only 2000 credits and a STARFLIER and then finding players who have Hammerheads, over 500000 credits, and then shoot at them.... see
a) if u can dmg them
b) how many shots it takes them to kil you (only need one hand)
c) how many respawns it takes them to shoot you on sight

What difficulty setting?

I'm not aware of any difficulty setting in this game?

Post Wed Mar 12, 2003 10:35 pm

There is a difficultly level in the .ini file you can change.

Post Wed Mar 12, 2003 11:14 pm

Hmmm....what difficulty is it set at by default? The highest? Medium?

Post Wed Mar 12, 2003 11:20 pm

Difficulty level 0.00 = god mode if you want to be a cheeseball

You don't have to do the story missions when they pop up. I spent ages in Bertonia with my frieghter just exploring and making money. I ignored the callf rom Juni completely until I was ready. Instead of using the Difficulty Scle=0.00 cheat to get through missions a far more fun thing to do is NOT take the mission until you've got yourself the best rig you can find/buy at your current level. And the way to do that is explore. For the level you are at at anytime, the bets weapons and shield sare often off the beaten path.

Once I'd got oodles of money I traded in my Drone friegther for a good HF and loaded it up with the bets stuff I could find. The I went and accpeted the SOP mission which presented littlew difficulty. I keep repeating this tactic now and so far it's worked fine.

I think this is why some people say the game is too easy and soem say it's hard - the real difficukty modifer is in how long you spend preparing for the next SP missions.
