The mighty gods of Irony
------>I was flying a gunless starflier trying to raise cash for upgrades. I got swarmed by 10 outcasts with cruise disrupters near the NY-Texas jumpgate. I evaded and made it to Texas, where I was again swarmed by outcasts. With a little thruster use, I managed to not get killed, reached the trade lane, and...you guessed it, got lane-hacked by yet ANOTHER swarm of outcasts.
After getting cruise disrupted, stomped, squished, and mutilated, I made it to LPI Sugarland and dropped my cargo, where I made a grand total of 0 credits after repairs. I picked up something or other to trade in NY, and ran back to the jumpgate at full speed. WHAT?! OUTCASTS AGAIN?! I use up every last one of my nanobots and shield batts while buzzing around waiting for some transports to go through, then jump. I'll give you 1 guess as to what was on the other end of the gate.
In the end, I made it back to manhattan with next to no health, and just barely enough cash to trade in the starflier for a rhino.
------>On a different server, I was running back and forth between detroit munitions and sappuro(sp?) station with loads of H-fuel and light arms, trying to get enough cash to replace my pirahna with a barracuda. Running into the high-level lane hackers, outcasts, and other baddies that lurk in Galileo. That part I managed somehow to live through, and breathed a sigh of releif after reaching Kusari turf, which is 100% neutral to me. Then I started getting lane hacked by kusari pirates. Hey, hot tip guys, but you're neutral...of course, they don't fire a shot. They fly right past. WtehF? Why lane-hack someone who you don't want to attack? All in all, what should have been a 40-60 minute round trip became a 2-and-a-half hour drag, thanks to those moronic kusari pirates.
------> While running over to rochester base, I get jumped by a batch of rogues. They die, I reel in the salvage: 2 Drails, a javelin launcher, and a single unit of food rations. I feel happy that I got something off the little goons, and continue on my way. About 3k from the junkers hide-out, I get a "drop the cargo!" message from some random junker in a CSV. Up comes the little screen, and I see what the would-be pirate is demanding. It isn't the 20 or so scrap metals I had mined out of the debris, it was...the lone food ration. Erm, okayeee...I'm right near your base, probably going to sell it there anyway, and I have other cargo that is potentially a hundred times more valuble. But no, he wants the food ration.
So, who has some stories of insanely stupid or over-eager AI players doing what they do best?
Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless
